That was the largest miss by the trade on record, 3.5 bpa on corn, back to 2006/07. October yield misses by the trade are usually unheard of.

Here's what 100% will happen, bookmark this: >Gov subsidized grocery stores open at 30% lower prices >Local grocery stores cannot compete >They go out of business >City store becomes the only option >No competition >The "food desert" they set out to fix is now worse >Demand is high, supply is low >Empty shelves become the norm >City responds the only way it can: purchase limits "2 per customer" >Rationing occurs >A rush every day, hoarding, lines >To control the bleeding, the city quietly shrinks the basket or lets quality slide >Wilted produce, thinner cuts, fewer options >Budget balloons anyway, because the subsidy never shrinks, only grows

Monitoring slightly wetter trends across portions of the AG Belt into the first week of August as the ridge pulls west and mid-level jet brings back precipitation risks. #agwx

SUB SOIL MOISTURE FORECAST 👀 🔴 Nebraska, Iowa & southern Minnesota are the epicenter, big blobs of sub-5th percentile soil moisture. Drier than 95% of years for late July, and that’s the deep profile, not just topsoil. 🟠 The Dakotas, western Illinois & northern Missouri sit in the 5–10 range. Subsoil reserves getting tapped fast. 🟡 Eastern Illinois, Indiana & southern Wisconsin hang in the 10–30 band, stressed but not critical yet. Timely rains still matter here. 🔹 The blue is all in the wrong places Delta, Texas coast & the Northeast. None of it helps corn. Net read: Peak water demand for crop. If the pattern verifies, G/E ratings have more room to slide & the market will have to price it (doing this now). Watching Monday’s Crop Progress closely.

🌾USDA projects U.S. farmers will harvest just 32.1 million acres of wheat in 2026. That would be a 149-year low, the smallest harvested area since 1877.

🌾2026 U.S. wheat plantings land below all trade estimates, maintaining its title as the smallest wheat area since records began in 1919. Spring wheat plantings will be the smallest in 56 years. Winter wheat acres come in below all estimates at a six-year low.

.@BernieSanders , it is a time to celebrate. @elonmusk has created enormous value for society by building @SpaceX, driving down the cost of rocket launches and creating a global satellite communication network that has brought high speed, low-cost internet and communication access to hundreds of millions and eventually billions of people along with critical advantages for our military and our nation’s defense. SpaceX and its technologies will cause an acceleration in the growth of wages and wealth creation globally, including in some of the poorest communities in the U.S. and around the world. Access to low-cost, high speed communications everywhere will allow children around the world to be educated, families to build businesses, and life-saving medical knowledge and care to be available everywhere. SpaceX will materially bring down the cost of compute, advancing AI and humanity. Meanwhile, 4,000 SpaceX employees yesterday became millionaires, including hourly wage employees who you claim you are trying to help. The Elon Musks of the world drive growth, global GDP, and provide access to goods and services at lower cost that would otherwise not exist. Elon’s nominal trillionaire status is due to his ownership of SpaceX, Tesla, Neuralink, the Boring Company and his other initiatives that have brought new technologies that improve our everyday lives. Elon is not sitting on a trillion dollar pile of cash, jewelry and gold. He is using his controlling stakes in his companies to advance mankind. Elon’s companies don’t pay dividends. They reinvest all of their capital to accelerate innovation and value creation. Elon is working 24/7 for all of us. He deserves respect and appreciation, not smears. Bernie, your socialism would never allow a SpaceX to be built. Socialism has only proven to impoverish mankind and lead to death and destruction. We need to create the conditions for more SpaceXs to be built, not attack the great entrepreneurs who are helping to advance our country.

A quick reminder of the fact pattern that resulted in Trump being fined a half a billion dollars… 1) he gives a value for his property as collateral for a loan. 2) the bank considering the loan (deutche I think) sends out their assessors and and fact checkers to appraise the property. They agree with Trump. 3) Trump borrows the money…Trump pays it back ahead of schedule..something the bank probably didn’t want because they don’t like prepayment..they like loans… 4) years later an AG that ran on “getting Trump” entirely changes protocol to allow her to look back at the transaction….they build an incoherent and idiotic case littered with anti Trump actors…they win….did I miss anything?

📈Dec corn's annual high sits at $4.98-1/2 per bu, set on March 9. But March highs are rare - last one was in 1999. Nov soybeans' current high also falls in the second week of March. The last time new-crop corn & soy both set annual highs in March? Never (at least since 1973).

Why do early planted soybeans tend to yield more & flower before the summer solstice?? This was a hot question yesterday for some reason... probably due to growers looking at the forecast & thinking they may not get any planting done until late April or early May. Simple answer: The sooner they start flowering, the longer they are in the reproductive stage. Chart below shows April 15th planted soybeans spend 52 days in reproduction vs 37 days for May 11th plant date. A plant can only make so much yield per day. The more days it is in reproductive stages, the more yield potential it can create. A few reasons: 1) Indeterminant soybeans are actually long night plants which require a certain night length to trigger reproduction. 2) Modern genetics in the same "maturity" group tend to flower "sooner" than varieties of the past. 3) Soybeans will start reproduction at certain physiological stages, I see typically V3-V4. 4) Warm weather accelerating growth stages also leads to early flowering. Planting delays doesn't mean we can't have strong soybean yields, it just means there is less room for other stresses during the growing season to achieve high yields.
