I’m struggling to understand how teaching post 16 qualifications in a school is worth more than teaching the exact same qualifications and more in a college when we are all public sector.
We need to put respect for ALL teachers at the heart of the education and skills system.
Fantastic news for the sector and most importantly the 1000s of young people who were set to be disadvantaged as a result of this. Well done @bphillipsonMP and well done @HCFEprincipal for being a consistent campaigner for this 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

🚨 NEW: I've just announced a pause and review of the defunding of BTECs
By doing so, we will:
✅ Support BTEC students
✅ Commit to roll out T-Levels
✅ Conclude the review by the end of the year

Great intent @Jacqui_Smith1 👏👏👏
You do know that in a few weeks' time there will be no level 3 qualifications in many areas such as electrical installation - skills on which the economy depends. The T Levels which replace these quals aren't adequate.
"There are more than a third of vacancies which employers are saying to us could be filled if there were sufficient skilled people in order to fill them."
Education minister @Jacqui_Smith1 breaks down to @TomSwarbrick1 the latest initiative from the new Labour government.

It’s #CollegesWeek2024 and with a week to go until the spring budget we are asking government to:
Mind the skills gap
Make a down payment on ABS
These steps will allow colleges to play an even bigger role in a strong society and a growing economy. @AoC_info #loveourcolleges
