Many don’t realize that barely 4% of Canada makes for good farmland. Most of the rest is inhospitable, endless granite, muskeg or tundra. That’s why paving over the little we have left is such a crime:
The majority of the land in Canada is non agriculture. You don't have to travel very far north in Ontario before the soil quality + growing season decline. Destroying farmland when we have a growing population is quite frankly, short sighted.#HandsOffTheGreenbelt #RepealBill23 🧵

😠Don't mess with the Oak Ridges Moraine. @fordnation If we start paving over (capping) the Moraine it can't replenish the aquifers. The Legislation for it + the Greenbelt were science based decisions, not economic. 250,000+ depend on the well water. 25+ rivers flow from here.
