Jaylen Brown says he bought a gold harp, and now has someone come over twice a week to play it as the sun goes down while his chef cooks dinner
“My favorite purchase, I think my best, my most favorite purchase was, I bought a harp. I bought like a gold harp. I got it upstairs too…”
“I got a harpist that come play like twice a week. While the sun is going down, chef is in the kitchen. You know what I mean? Just…”

So now you think Donald Trump called Stephen A Smith to discuss the “needs of Black community?” That’s what you think this dinner was about? Come on, now. I’m supposed to believe something serious is going to be accomplished at a dinner Kid Rock — who started cosplaying as a southern racist to save his career — and Bill Maher?
If you’re trying to find common ground with someone on the opposite side, both sides have to come into it with honest intentions. Has that EVER been Donald Trump? No. We have had six years of Trump and he has never shown any interest in serving anyone but himself. He has put most of his supporters in a worse position than they were previously, but I’m supposed to believe he suddenly cares about the “needs of the Black community?”
And don’t give Trump the excuse of ignorance. He knows exactly how he has screwed over Black folks and he relishes in it. If he cared about the needs of our community — or the American people overall — then Project 2025 doesn’t exist.
You can’t appeal to a bully. They don’t care.
With all due respect, Miss Hill, you know I love you like a little sister. You may be right about Donald Trump. But if he called me, you, or anybody on this app and said, “Let’s sit down and talk about the needs of the Black community,” I believe we have a responsibility to go and make those needs clear. Our people deserve that advocacy.
I don’t just talk on this app. When I went to get $20 million, $16 million, and $5 million for parks and a high school football stadium, along with $3 million for my youth program, I had to work with people in city government, the county, and the school board—including Republicans who love and support Donald Trump. If I refused to have those conversations, what would I have gotten done for my people?
It’s easy to talk on this app. When you’re in these streets seeing how people are suffering, you understand why every opportunity to get resources matters. Having a conversation doesn’t mean giving somebody a pass. It means bringing our needs directly to the people with the power to address them.
And while we’re talking about standing up for our community, I didn’t see that same energy from a lot of y’all when Debbie Wasserman Schultz ran for a historically Black congressional seat. We can have that conversation another time, because I do have a problem with the people who sat back and said nothing.

Replying to @stephenasmith
@stephenasmith went to the White House to break bread with Donald Trump, Kid Rock, and Bill Maher. Now he’s defending himself by suggesting that refusing to have a conversation would be foolish and that his engagement was about helping the Black community.
Well, Stephen A., since you claim this was about helping Black people, I have a few questions.
The Trump administration has gutted the federal workforce, disproportionately impacting Black women. Did you secure any of those jobs back?
Trump has waged an all-out assault on diversity, equity, and inclusion. Did you get a commitment to restore any of those protections?
His administration has worked to erase Black history from federal institutions and public education. Did you convince him to reverse those policies?
His administration has pursued redistricting schemes that threaten Black political representation. Did you get him to oppose those efforts?
ICE has been guilty of racial profiling, abusive detention practices, and deadly enforcement tactics against Black and Brown immigrants. Did you get any commitment to end those abuses or change his immigration policies?
You reportedly raised unemployment among Black women and funding for HBCUs. What concrete commitments did you walk away with? What policies changed? What resources were secured? What did Black people actually gain?
Because sitting at a table with the president is not an accomplishment. Getting a picture, sharing a meal, and having a four-hour conversation are not victories for Black America.
ACCESS IS NOT ADVOCACY. PROXIMITY IS NOT PROGRESS. AND A SEAT AT THE TABLE MEANS NOTHING IF YOU LEAVE WITHOUT BRINGING ANYTHING BACK TO THE PEOPLE YOU CLAIM TO REPRESENT.
You can call it whatever makes you feel important. But don’t insult our intelligence by dressing up your personal invitation as some great act of service to Black people.
So tell us, Stephen A., exactly what did you accomplish for the Black community? Not what you discussed. Not how gracious Trump was. Not how wonderful the dinner went.
WHAT. DID. YOU. DELIVER?
Because as far as any publicly documented results are concerned, the answer appears to be NOTHING.
