Today is the anniversary of Oíche na Gaoithe Móire - the Night of the Big Wind, 1839, the worst natural disaster in Irish history. Did the terror and the psychological damage of the night feed into the language-shift in Ireland? Grateful for retweets!👍 irishlanguagematters.com/oic…

Something interesting you might not have realized: a number of words in English are NOUNS when you stress the FIRST syllable, but VERBS when you stress the SECOND syllable. "Your CONduct is better when you conDUCT yourself appropriately.” 🧵⬇️

"When I'm in England, I say I'm from Ireland. When I'm in Ireland, I say I'm from Dublin. When I'm in Dublin, I say I'm from Crumlin. When I'm in Crumlin, I say Leighlin Road. When I'm in Leighlin Road, I say I'm a Lynott." Remembering Philo, who died today in 1986.

This was my plan to relaunch MTV. All you do is replay the first decade of MTV in real time. It woule be like an instant music-history channel. Zero production costs. Add new sponsors.
I noticed how MTV is now a channel that just replays the show "Ridiculousness" over and over What if on August 1st, MTV starts playing the programming that was on when it launched on that date in 1981, in real time Run the first five years of MTV..daily..for the next five years
