Every time Lisa Nandy opens her mouth they have to redefine the lower bounds of human IQ.
Absolutely marvellous 👍🏻
You've avoided nearly all of my questions, Norah, because you're literally incapable of answering them. Your mind is firmly closed to any evidence or facts that undermine your preferred narrative. You consider it immoral for anyone to even question you, even though you voluntarily and confidently entered this discussion. You're like a flat-earther. Nothing I or anyone else says to you will permeate your stubborn quasi-religious beliefs, because to change your mind would take away a core part of your self image, which is as somebody who is kinder and better and more righteous than the nasty people still advocating for the safety of women and girls.
You repeat your thought-terminating clichés and unevidenced assertions, which I assume sound clever inside your echo chamber, but which, outside it, make you appear not only dim, but a total moral vacuum. Increased risk to females? Who cares. Women threatened by violence? Of course those poor trans-identified men lash out when they meet resistance! What is a gender identity? You can't really say, but like the flat-earther, you're sure it exists, because your tribe is held together by belief in it, and pride themselves on their blind faith in it.
I keep waiting for a single gender ideologue or trans activist to truly engage with the facts, but all of you sheer away from them like horses from fireworks. It truly is like talking to cult members who're incapable of engaging in rational debate and just keep chanting the mantras, consigning all serious questions to the 'evil' bin.
I've been told I'm on the wrong side of history thousands of times. By debating people like you, I've come to realise that your ilk's idea of the 'right side of history' means stripping women and girls' of their rights, excusing male violence against women, siding with those issuing death and rape threats and attempting to suppress critical thought and freedom of speech.
Maybe, like the flat-earthers, you genuinely think history will vindicate you. I believe people will look back on this period and analyse your arguments, not because they admire them, but because they're trying to fathom how so many supposedly intelligent people fell, hook, line and sinker for a bunch of vacuous, post-modern, pseudo-intellectual cobblers, while being completely indifferent to the real world harm they were enabling.

I don’t want a leader that apologises for the transatlantic slave trade.
I want a leader that promotes the fact that Britain abolished the slave trade at great sacrifice whilst condemning the modern slave trade active throughout Africa and the Middle East.
Sharon1697 retweeted
I agree with every word of this.
Slavery was an evil in which people from every continent and region participated. We should be honest about the whole history, not select the parts that are politically convenient today, especially given Britain's leading role in ending the transatlantic slave trade.
If Caribbean countries are asking Britain for a formal apology for Britain’s role in the transatlantic slave trade, will they also be asking the same of the descendants of African kingdoms, rulers and merchants who captured, sold and profited from the trade?
On demands for reparations, whether through cash or debt relief, we have been down this track before. Twenty-five years ago, Jubilee 2000, Drop the Debt and Make Poverty History argued that cancelling the debts of poorer countries would give them a fresh start. More than $100 billion of debt was eventually written off, but many of those countries have since built up even bigger debts. Labour are already spending too much on Britain's welfare state, now is not the time for Andy Burnham to be providing global welfare.
There is no reason British taxpayers today should be held financially responsible for things that happened generations before any of us were born. And I have even less patience for political elites in commonwealth countries who don’t know how to make their own citizens prosperous now looking for another opportunity to blame Britain.
As Prime Minister, Andy Burnham should be Britain’s greatest defender. Instead, he is writing articles saying we need to confront our history (as if we haven't done enough of that) and considering another formal historical apology. Tony Blair already expressed Britain’s deep sorrow and regret for our role in the slave trade nearly twenty years ago. There is no need to do so again.
This is all another navel-gazing distraction. The Commonwealth should be looking forward, not endlessly backwards. That means economic partnerships to make us all richer and deeper military and security cooperation against common threats. If every Commonwealth summit becomes an exercise in presenting Britain with demands for cash then we need to start asking if it is worth the effort.

The electorate aren’t goldfish. Our memories are long enough to recall June 2024, when you declared that trans-identified men with penises should be able to use women’s public bathrooms. It took a Supreme Court ruling to force you to uphold women’s rights, and now you pose as our bold champion? Please.
The time for talk has long passed. This government is putting its money where its mouth is when it comes to supporting women and girls.

You should start by raising the tax threshold, a lot! Numpties.
Replying to @UKLabour
1. Making higher tax-free mileage rates for nurses, care workers, self-employed tradespeople and others who drive for work.
2. Extending parental pay to more than 150,000 more parents per year.
3. Ending the Carer’s Allowance cliff edge so unpaid carers no longer lose their entire allowance simply for earning a penny over the Weekly Earnings Limit.
4. Removing import tariffs on more than 100 products, helping lower import costs on family favourites.
5. Rolling out hundreds more Post Office drop boxes, making it easier to send and return parcels.

It is hardly surprising that someone open to rejoining the EU would be open to free movement.
Burnham's romanticised picture of EU membership ignores the fact that we literally had no idea who was coming into the country before 2016. We were always told there were 3 million EU citizens in Britain. When we counted them we discovered there were 6 million.
Any attempt to return to free movement has to reckon with the fact that a country like Spain has legalised the status of a million plus illegal migrants since then, and with the very visible tensions and anxieties amongst EU member states on the subject.
There can be no viable policy which doesn't involve HMG having full control over who comes into this country. We aren't there at the moment, but we will need to get there in the end. Andy Burnham may not understand this now, but he will have to do so eventually.
❗️EXCLUSIVE❗️
Andy Burnham has opened the door to Britain rejoining the EU’s free movement rules, arguing an “honest discussion” about the idea is needed
The PM said the nature of immigration has been “different” since Brexit, with more foreigners moving permanently to the UK rather than returning home
Burnham noted how his father, Roy, an engineer, took advantage of the EU rules in the 1990s to work in Germany
He also said since leaving the bloc Britain has lost access to ‘Eurodac’, an EU database on border crossings
“I think you have to have a very factual, quite evidence-based debate about this,” he said
Burnham made clear staying out of free movement would **not** be a red line for talks (unlike adopting the Euro or rejoining the Schengen Area)
Burnham made the comments to me in one of four interviews conducted during his first 100 days in office. All unpacked in tomorrow’s Sunday Times.
It’s big news. Free movement seen as a key reason why the country voted Brexit in 2016. No PM has made the argument for potentially rejoining since… until now.
(Important to note: Burnham accepts there were ‘very significant challenges’ too with free movement. Hasn’t reached a firm decision yes or no. He continues to mull over ‘options’ for closer EU ties)
KEY BURNHAM QUOTE
“Freedom of movement had very significant challenges associated with it and I spoke about them in my previous time in Parliament. But, at the same time, it was a type of immigration that perhaps wasn’t as difficult (as now).
“Revolving door migration where people would come and then go back is different. The balance of migration has changed, hasn’t it, since then? I think we’ve just got to have an honest discussion about those things.”

I actually have a grudging respect for Burnham's approach to being PM. He clearly doesnt give a shit, he is just using it as a grift to live his best life, normally being PM ruins the holders life, they leave looking haunted - he is going to leave with a bendy bully and a perm.
