On quiet days in the stock market, you sometimes find yourself wondering... what's next? What little companies, with no fame or fanfare today, will become economic juggernauts over the next 10 years? Unfortunately, this is usually where people start guessing — or listening to the next guy, who's also guessing. But AI changes one important part of the problem. A human investor can only keep track of so many industries, themes and companies at once. Software doesn't have that limitation. Sharestep maps listed companies into tens of thousands of highly specific economic niches, then continuously scans them for signs that something interesting is happening. Nobody has to think of the niche first. Nobody has to type the search query. When some obscure corner of the market starts coming to life, the system can surface it. That's the idea behind sharestep.co. No market hocus-pocus. Just a field of view that would be impractical for one person to maintain.

A few weeks ago, @nikitabier gifted investors a pretty big insider tip. He said bot management systems would be one of the biggest growth industries of the coming years. Then something strange happened. You're not going to get meaningful exposure to something as granular as "bot management systems" with $ARKK and chill. You need a much higher-resolution view of the market to invest in a niche like bot management. And it just so happens that in early September, a concentrated basket of bot management stocks started to rally. Names like $AKAM, $FSLY and $RDWR. Increasingly, if you want the extra alpha, you need tools that can pinpoint ideas like these quickly enough to act on them.

It looks like uranium-themed $URNM is the table-topping ETF today. Up +5.8% as the session approaches the closing bell. Not far behind is another uranium ETF, $URA, up +4.6%. But can you do better? Uranium mining companies aren't all created equal. Their business lines vary. There are different approaches to running a uranium business. Like the internet industry (and any industry, really) uranium has sub-industries all of its own. For example, physical uranium trading is up +7% on average, 2.4 percentage points ahead of $URA. This concentrated micro-niche has only three names: $UROY, $CCJ and $LEU. These companies don't just mine uranium... they hold and trade it. ETFs point you in the right direction, but you're not really understanding what's happening to your money if you don't examine the nitty-gritty.

When you buy thematic ETFs, are you sure you know what's going on with your money? Take $SMH, a popular semiconductors ETF. It's been a chart-topper for weeks, up +5.7%. But it goes much deeper. Semiconductors are a complex industry with its own sub-industries... and performance can vary wildly between them. That's why tools that give a more granular view of the market are becoming increasingly relevant. For example, semiconductor materials and chemicals are up +14.4% in a week. That's almost 9 percentage points ahead of $SMH, with names like $ENTG, $WOLF and $AXTI leading the charge. Semiconductors are just one region of activity. You've got to get to grips with the detail to understand what your money's actually doing.

Crypto miners digging themselves into a hole this afternoon. Bloodbath. $WULF -5.6% $IREN -3.5% $RIOT -3.1% $ZNB -24.0% (!!!) ... only 1 in 16 names posting gains today. Any idea why $ZSQR bucked the trend?

People want to invest in the space industry. But do they really know what they're buying into? Take $SPCX. SpaceX became one of the biggest stories in public markets this year after its enormous IPO. But investor understanding of the space economy is still catching up with the capital flowing into it. In some ways it feels like the internet in 1999: everyone can see something enormous emerging, but the industry map is still being drawn. That's where the 40,000+ stock niches Sharestep tracks become useful. You can search and follow the individual activities that actually make up the space economy... rather than treating "space" as one giant theme. Today, for example, space mission data services are up +3.1%, with names like $PL, $SATL and $BKSY moving higher. If you want to invest in space, it helps to have the tools to understand what's actually underneath it.

When a semiconductor ETF is moving, do you know which part of the industry is actually doing the work? Take $SMH. It's up around +2.9% over the last week, giving you broad exposure across the semiconductor industry. But beneath that broad move, some much narrower activities are doing far more. Sharestep maps the market into over 40,000 concentrated industrial niches. And one that stands out right now is semiconductor materials and chemicals. The 8-stock basket is up an average +9.3% over the last week — around 8 percentage points ahead of $SMH. It includes businesses involved in semiconductor-grade chemicals, wafers, materials and contamination-control systems — names like $ENTG, $WOLF and $AXTI. Broad ETFs are useful for showing you where something is happening. The interesting part is often figuring out what underneath them is actually moving. That's the level of detail we're building at sharestep.co.

Have you had a enough of chasing after the semis rally that you didn't quite take full advantage of? Are you spending today debating of $MU's fate and wasting time while $DRAM is trading into a coil all summer? Meanwhile Genomic Sequencing stocks have been pumping behind your back. $TXG +245% since we first posted it. Your friends are probably bored of your semis stories at this point. Change the record. 👇
$TXG has now met the percentage based measured move from the inverse head and shoulders too. Wild ride! +245%. Said it several times this year since Q1 and will repeat. Tons of action is going off and going to go off in pharmas, biotech and life sciences. The few big moves that have kicked off so far are just the warm up.

So $MU printed a double beat last night and it's trading down -2.84%. Lots of narratives going around, but people are swallowing opportunity costs... Some say the lending chain is creaking on higher rates, and Micron's customers are high on debt. Others say that generational bag holders just want to cash in and don't want the risk. Meanwhile, there's a small pocket of the semiconductor industry that isn't down today... Semiconductor design software, up +6.7%. One name is showing double-digit gains this morning. $CDNS $SNPS $SVCO
