Global Shapers Miami

This Monday’s #civicengagement spotlight is brought to you by a #miamishaper who wanted to highlight the work of three local organizations instead of his/her/they amazing self. All we ask is for you to learn more about their work ;). @cjpmiami @Dreamdefenders @fempowermia

Cheers to transitions! Join us in thanking Danielle and Jorge for their leadership this past year :). We’re excited for what’s to come for you both and us, and feel responsible to keep transforming this city 💪🏼🔥. Onward!

Farah said it, you can quote her ;) “It’s because of civic engagement that love is love, #metoo has become a movement, women’s marches are known, black lives matter, we continue to listen and support those who have something to say, and dreamers are here to stay.” #letsdothis

“We all have the opportunity to make our community and country better with our voices and our votes.” - Jorge González, outgoing curator #Miami Hub.

Say hi to Manuel, #Miami’s incoming Vice-Curator. Manny is currently working as a mental health therapist at his private counseling practice, is our in-house mindfulness guru, and the one who’s always encouraging us to hike, camp, read, and learn about new masculinities. #weee

Is it Monday again? Always a good day to engage in whatever way you’re ready. Our time to #shape is now and @luisanazd inspires us with her mo.

Odd yet perfect times for transitions and bold leadership! Meet Amanda, our incoming curator. She’s a key player with the @Marlins , @MiamiChamber , and @BBBSMiami . She’s also one of the kindest humans we know. Hello there Amanda! Cheers to all the good things we’ll #shape!

In the midst of all these feelings, we want to wish you all a #HappyPrideMonth with Diego’s civic engagement spotlight. We can all do our part to shape this country 💪🏼🔥.

We see you. We hear you. We mourn with you. We will fight for and with you. #icantbreathe #sayhisname #georgefloyd #justice

Drumroll please... Today we get to read our incoming curator’s words of encouragement. Does #shaping your city makes you happy? It’s never too late to try and do something about the things that need to be fixed 💪🏼🔥.

Great day to read these words by Jordan De Leon as we listen to the candidates running for Miami-Dade County Mayor. Want to join us? Head to @MiamiHerald’s FB page 💪🏼💙.

Have ya’ met Joan? She shares how listening and asking great questions can help #shapethevote , and sometimes it’s as easy as showing up. How do you show up for your community? #spotlightmonday

This is how #miamishaper Ale stays civically engaged all the way from @UChicago (where he’s pursuing his master degree). . For Ale, one of the greatest joys from being civically engaged in these small ways, is that his friends and family have noticed, and now do the same!

Before April ends, make sure you fill out the #census ;). The current situation has shown us the importance of numbers and knowing who’s where. Make sure you too are counted!

Let’s start this week by embracing @LizRebeAlarcon ‘s words and realizing the importance of our power; the power of the people! #keepshaping

Happy Earth Day! What are you doing for our planet today? #EarthDay50

We bet you have time, knowledge, a unique skill set to share with the world. This Monday, #miamishaper Manny, reminds us how we can be civically engaged. #keepshaping
