Unless something extraordinary happens, hard to see anything but a Colorado vs Carolina showdown for the Cup. It will be great hockey.

It’s a time in BC politics. The Conservatives will pick a new leader next year. We’ll see if they can remain united coming out of that. Then a Spring or Fall session with the new Leader for people to see how they perform. Then is the time to look at polls.

Rules for the Federal NDP leadership are reasonable. March 2026 affords time for a meaningful discussion and a $100,000 entry fee is solid. A serious candidate will find a 1000 people to give them $100 or a 100 people to kick in a $1000, or likely some combination of the two.

With this final four in the Stanley Cup, my interest is turning to the World Championship - Go Canada!!

The Liberals are comfortable for a couple of years. Mark Carney is very different than Justin Trudeau. He is smarter with a significant resume. He is also, unfortunately, farther to the right. He celebrates being a pragmatist. Better than an ideologue, at this time.

After a most disappointing season for my Canucks, I have decided I need a team for the playoffs. Only one serious option, let’s go Jets!!

Congrats to @seanorr & @Lucyincanada, very hopeful they’ll bring strong, progressive voices to Council. The big message, how poorly ABC did. The city’s response to the worst mayor Vancouver’s seen since Jack Volrich, and ABC councillors complicit in Ken Sim’s mess.

With the loss to the Jets, the Canucks are circling the drain as far as any playoffs thoughts have gone. While they had more than their share of bad luck this year, it is no excuse for how inconsistent too many players have been. That’s not how contenders play.

Pundit’s whining the Canucks did nothing at the trade deadline. They were more active pre-deadline than any team in the league. Their starting lineup has 4 or 5 new players. As for the deadline deals, more often than not you pay too much for too little.

Best in the world is Connor McDavid, with Nathan MacKinnon a step behind. The greatest player is Sid the Kid. He’s an icon, those other two will get there. Sid’s there now. When it counted they all stepped up and delivered. And then there was Binnington! Go Canada!

The resurgence of rants attacking Dr Bonnie Henry is tiresome, fire her! Jail her!, and those are the polite ones. How about give her the Order of Canada as an outstanding citizen who helped lead British Columbia through the pandemic.

With JT Miller & Boeser out, it is welcome to see EP40 getting his game back.

Rumours there is a movement to replace John Rustad. Like Gordon Wilson, after establishing the party, get taken out by the powers that be. If this is true and that is the agenda, establishing an effective opposition will be tough. See how the next 6 months plays out.

Donald Trump & Elon Musk have found a bromance that is so clear. The sole focus, I’m in it for myself and screw everybody else. They have determined there is enough for the two of them, so let’s hook up!

I would never vote for or support Ken Sim & ABC. Saying that, the assault on his home is inexcusable. Politicians deserve all the heat their decisions bring on. Their families & homes are out of bounds. I support the perpetrators being held accountable, if they are identified.

Closing in on the final days of the US election, I’m increasingly confident many real Republicans and a majority of Independents will say, “stop the craziness, this has to end”. They will vote Harris, giving her a convincing win and control in Congress. God, I hope so!

Crackpots & conspiracy theorists in BC are looking under every rock for evidence of organized election corruption. But none exists. Have there been isolated mistakes, probably. Is that a conspiracy to fix the election, hardly. For some, the inability to accept the truth is hard.

Official BC election results, including the 49,000 uncounted votes, will be done by Oct 28. This includes recounts of two seats where the margin is less than 100 votes. If those 49,000 uncounted votes bring any other race inside the 100 vote margin, they will be recounted?

All rests on counts, recounts and 49,000 uncounted ballots. That’s for next week. If the current result holds, the next year or two, will be interesting. Can the NDP & Greens find common ground? Can Rustad put together an effective opposition? Both will take work.
