I am no longer active on this website which is now run by and for Nazis, white supremacists, AI bros, Russian disinformation bots and crypto grifters.

Overshadowed by its gargantuan neighbour. Similar to how people perceieve Taiwan - a country with the 21st-largest economy in the world and a population on par with Australia's - to be a "small" country

Putting aside that this is just flat-out racism, the “street” in question here is the main street in Australia’s largest city. Go live in one of this country’s thousands of lily-white small towns rather than our global melting pot if the sight of Asians upsets you so much
Sometimes I walk down the street and notice that everyone's different now.
They all say they're coming here for a better life, but at what cost to me?
I can look back 200 years and see the impact my family had here.
And now they want to come and reap the fruits of our labor?
That doesn't seem fair or reasonable. I wouldn't expect to walk into someone else's house and rely on their hospitality.
But I have manners. And maybe they don't. And maybe that's why my society gives the opportunities it does - the people had manners, were civilised. Actually CARED about making things clean and efficient, improving them.
And so we made the best nation there was.
But now it's no longer the best because it's over crowded and smelly and dirty. It's like the third world countries we send aid to.
And I don't like it.
I don't want to live in cramped squalor.
That's not what this place was built for.
It’s funny how these temperatures are so much more psychologically tolerable - even enjoyable! - in December and January than in February
This drove me up the wall recently. I have a 9-5 day job, a second freelance job, plus my writing royalties - the latter two make up 25% of my income but the bank flat out refused to accept them despite years of tax returns showing how consistent they are
I maintain this is an east coast psyop, I never even saw them on the menu growing up in Perth and they are deep-fried potatoes… deep-fried potatoes!!!

better yet, why not just send chatgpt through our school system and dispense with the economic need for children once and for all
“Is it ok for kids to use ChatGPT to do their homework?” asks #BBCLauraK
“With supervision, then yes… we need to make sure kids are learning how to use this technology” says Science Secretary Peter Kyle

Out-of-body experience reading this Fletcher Knebel thriller which I knew was about a junior senator tipped for vice president who becomes concerned the POTUS is insane - because, as it turns out, he proposes annexing Canada and Scandinavia.
…It was published in 1965.
Life tip: Do not take legal advice from people on social media
It’s fascinating to observe tech guys who think that what’s currently being touted as “AI” (a bunch of questionably useful predictive text engines) is actual Matrix-level society-upending shit rather than the next Segway or Google Glass
Spending Christmas Day discussing Indian immigration on Twitter (whether done outright racistly, dog-whistlingly, or Substackly)
