Fieldwork is crucial for gathering data, inspiring emerging scientists, developing skills, networks and research collaborations.
Unfortunately women coastal scientists struggle to get to the field- and those that get there experience discrimination, sexual harassment & abuse. 1/2
Excellent to see the fruits of our (very hard!) labour in print, all that drone flying and measuring mangroves @jeffkelleway @oxana_repina @KerryleeRogers_

Flew over the Howick islands, GBR yesterday the day our expanding mangrove forests paper came out. Serendipitous!
Our team visited ten islands, measured LOTs of mangrove trees, flew drones and calculated these forests are storing 100,000 tonnes of carbon.

My family having fun on the rainbow steps @UOW. I’ve walked up these steps many times and felt happy to have a welcoming and inclusive employer.
It was a pleasure to walk the reef flat in the company of @KerryleeRogers_ , @jeffkelleway , @EmmaAsbridge and @BrookeConroy13
More than 90 years after the first scientific expedition to Low Isles on the Great Barrier Reef, #UOW Associate Professor @Shamylto shares a recount of her latest research trip. 🌴👉 uow.to/3JqOJ7K #UOWResearch
Happy #IWD peeps! Don’t forget to expose girls to science early!
Some warm thoughts to start the weekend.

Many of our Editorial Board Members for #CPCoastalFutures are currently at #ICCE2022 on Costal Engineering, including @KDSplinter and @Shamylto who took part in the women in coastal geosciences and engineering panel discussion on Tuesday night!
Proud to be part of this conversation! It’s been a pleasure to watch the WICGE network grow and the conversations expand over the years.
Part-time work. Are we able to be recognised by the achievements we make, or necessary has to be by the amount of time we work? Women should be valued for their skills in the first place. Thanks for sharing your career pathways with us today! #ICCE2022 #womenincoastalengineering
Thanks @BrettM_Lewis for all your work. It was a team effort!
How cool is this!
A new book celebrating a centenary of reef science in Australia 🌊🪸
Includes amazing pics, art, science, politics and history of Australia's vital reefs over the last 100 years.
Congrats to everyone who helped put this it together!
