Dak Prescott had tears in his eyes after the game while talking about his mother, who passed away in 2013: “I woke up this morning just a little emotional, way more than normal. … In the moment (of breaking the Cowboys’ TD pass record), I just felt my mom. My mom was never short or never hesitant to tell me how proud she was of me. She was never, never, never short of that. “And I could just hear that. And that’s enough. Thankful that my teammates, my coaches and everybody believe in me and all that, but that’s enough. And I heard that my whole life growing up and I hear it now as loud as I’ve ever heard it. I’m just blessed.”

Dak Prescott when asked about Cowboys fans who might feel like this season is just the same as the last two years: “I mean, it’s a long season. I love our fans, but I don’t necessarily feel like I need to speak to that fan. Sorry for them. If they’re a real fan, they’ll stick with it. They’ll trust it. They’ll believe in it. And at the end of the day, it is one game. Yeah, it sucks, it’s the first game. 
 “Nobody’s more pissed than myself and these guys in here. We didn’t want to start 0-1. We’re as excited as any fan out there about the offseason and things we’ve done in the training camp. So, turn that energy and come to the game this Sunday and be as loud as you can. We appreciate it.”
