So basically, today PHP got two critical bugs that let anyone run code on your server without even logging in, which is bad, and then the details leaked before the patch was even out, which is worse, and it works on WordPress and MediaWiki and Magento and Joomla and Laravel, and Censys says like 1.5 million servers are running a version with no fix, so the NSA was like "take your system offline," and the FBI was like "take your system offline," and CISA and the UK and CERT-EU were all like "take your system offline," and then the Prime Minister of Japan, the actual Prime Minister, posted at 5:55 in the morning telling 48.8 million people to take their system offline, so everyone took their system offline, like the Dutch cybersecurity agency took its own website offline, and the Dutch parliament went offline, and the Port of Rotterdam went offline, and Finland and France and Denmark started pulling government sites, and Wikipedia went down, and Archive.org went down, and Asana and GOG and Something Awful went down, and the University of Vienna's webmail went down for some reason, and that's just PHP. Because GitLab also dropped a CVSS 10.0, which is the highest score they give out, for a bug that's been there since 2014, so that's every self-hosted GitLab for twelve years, and then LiteLLM 1.107.0 got hijacked and shipped a credential stealer and a remote access trojan in every single wheel and the Docker images, including latest, and you didn't even have to import it, just installing it was enough, and it's the second time this year, and then Railway paused every deployment on the entire platform because someone got into the environment variables, so now everyone has to rotate every secret they've ever stored there, and TiDB Cloud said someone was walking around inside with stolen credentials for basically a month and an extortion group says they took 10.6 terabytes, and Zeabur got breached for the second time in two months and is just shutting down, like the whole company, and Node.js patched remote code execution and a TLS bypass, and CISA says Plex is being actively exploited, and someone took over 300 Tor exit relays to steal SSH passwords, and SafePay ransomware has hit over 600 critical infrastructure orgs, and India's biggest bank filed a data loss incident, and Japan has been in an official state of emergency in cyberspace since October 9, which honestly explains the 5:55 AM post. Oh, and eMudhra, a certificate authority that's issued over 60 million certificates, whose entire job is proving websites are who they say they are, was supposed to be using private keys that are random numbers over a hundred digits long, and one of them was 4. Just 4. And the others were like 66 and 237. Anyway, it's Wednesday.

Why would I pay $15/month for your software when I can plan, build, review, improve, host, launch, scale, secure, patch, monitor and debug it myself?

HUGE unlock to understand code AI writes. Don't one-shot features or fixes. Have the AI write the most minimal working solution (often just a few lines of code), then build up from there. Each stage in a discrete commit. I can't overstate how valuable this bit of workflow is

Anyone else missing PHP Annotated Monthly? It was the single place to see all cherry-picked cool stuff happening in PHP community. Seems empty without it.

The man who killed the $10,000 GPU myth. He did it alone, from Bulgaria, with one C file. 🤯 >Meet Georgi Gerganov. >Bulgarian developer. Nobody had heard of him. >In March 2023, Meta’s LLaMA model leaked online >Within days he wrote a single C file >Called it llama.cpp >It ran a full AI model on a MacBook. No GPU. No cloud. >The entire AI industry said you needed $10,000 GPUs to run LLMs 🔥 >He proved you didn’t. On a laptop. Alone. >Also built whisper.cpp ~ same thing for voice AI > His code is the foundation of Ollama, LM Studio, and GPT4All >107,000+ GitHub stars. Fastest open-source AI project to hit 100K ever. 🚀 >In 2026 Hugging Face hired his entire team >Still ships code. Still open source. Still free. Every time you run AI locally, you’re running his work. Absolute Legend 🐐

This is without knowing anything about your test suite or app, but a few thoughts off the top of my noggin. Realistically, I don't think there will be a quick solve here. My guess is item one will be the place to dig but also requires the most work.

Proud of our team for making this happen 🥲 Many years of work, lots of discussions, and many prototypes painfully taken back to the drawing board. *of course it isn't just the Chrome team working on this--the web is a huge collaborative effort--but you can't deny that Chrome is leading the charge here and this post represents a ton of our engineering effort, feature championing, and vision. blog.gitbutler.com/the-great…

🚨 CRITICAL: Active supply chain attack on axios -- one of npm's most depended-on packages. The latest axios@1.14.1 now pulls in plain-crypto-js@4.2.1, a package that did not exist before today. This is a live compromise. This is textbook supply chain installer malware. axios has 100M+ weekly downloads. Every npm install pulling the latest version is potentially compromised right now. Socket AI analysis confirms this is malware. plain-crypto-js is an obfuscated dropper/loader that: • Deobfuscates embedded payloads and operational strings at runtime • Dynamically loads fs, os, and execSync to evade static analysis • Executes decoded shell commands • Stages and copies payload files into OS temp and Windows ProgramData directories • Deletes and renames artifacts post-execution to destroy forensic evidence If you use axios, pin your version immediately and audit your lockfiles. Do not upgrade.

More than 100 participants; two prize pools for multi- and single threaded solutions; performance already pushed to sub-3 seconds. The 100M-row challenge is doing great! FYI: if you're with a company that wants to pitch in to biggen the prize pool, feel free to let me know :)

Say hello to a brand new kind of prop in Inertia: Once Props! 💨 Once Props are evaluated only once on the server and then carried over to the next page that has the same prop. This is ideal for shared data that rarely changes or data that is huge or expensive to compute.

when aligning icons with text, you can set the height to 1lh it equals the element's line-height, so icons align perfectly
