#Graphicoftheday Major FDI deals in India's financial sector Canada’s Fairfax Financial Holdings has struck a Rs52,878 crore deal for IDBI Bank, the largest foreign investment (FDI) and nearly five times Bain Capital’s Rs11,626 crore Axis Bank bet in 2017. SoftBank’s $1.4 billion investment in Paytm’s parent, One97 Communications, came that year too; both investors have since exited. PhonePe, YES Bank and HDFC Life also drew overseas money, though at smaller values at the time of investment. By @ShadowzAndDust forbesindia.com/article/upfr…

No government in india has ever made such massive security arrangements and imposed embargoes to quell a students protest, such as the one we see now. Not even when anti-reservation protests were at its peak in 1990. I hope the intelligence inputs are sound, if the govt anticipates large-scale violence, organised by protesting students. But if not, then this is a very serious matter, with major ramifications.

📈 The World Bank has raised its forecast for India’s FY27 growth to 7.1%, but higher energy costs remain the biggest near-term risk to the growth story, says chief economist Franziska Ohnsorge. For AI, she sees the quickest gains coming not from building frontier models, but from adapting existing technology to India’s local needs in areas such as healthcare and agriculture. Recent trade deals with the EU and UK could also double India’s preferential access to global GDP to around 30%. By @himanikothari, @ShadowzAndDust Read more: forbesindia.com/article/news…
