I'm saying that no, the right is not also "forgetful" like the left is. The right actually does have a different modus operandi than the left, including how it evolves in its positions and "remembers" the positions it's passed through. "Rival schools of thought" exist on the right. They have separate if overlapping organs and stars and these openly fight with each other. Libertarians vs social cons vs maga nationalists, etc. If you find your attitude about immigration makes people in maga circles angry, you can go to the libertarians or to the churches. It's all formalized and institutionalized, and on the right there is actually a shared sense of the geneology of these various fights.
The left, by contrast, moves from issue to issue via "consensus drift." Arguments are not formalized and actually people who bring up anything against the consensus of the moment get punished with the insults of the moment ("white nationalist!" "neocon!" "pedo!"). People "remember" (erroneously) that "these are the things we have always believed" which of course couldnt possibly be true with something like the trans issue or "COVID zero" politics--but that's what people "remember" anyway. It's not like there's a leftist organ or school of thought which thinks Gaza is much more important than climate, but another, rival organ or school of thought which thinks the reverse. Instead, there is a drifting consensus, a shared "feel" for when it's time to move from one issue to another; in turn, there is a lack of mnemonic interest in previously stated priorities.

Sure, and the right has too. On the anti-globo stuff, it’s changed. But I dont think the fundamentals have. The context has, however. That’s politics

So in the middle of the Malfoid craze, scientists for the first time in history discover a star that would have the Slytherin color scheme. And it's in the constellation she's named after.
Malfoid is starting to become genuinely strong evidence for the existence of God.

This guy embodies one of the most popular archetypes used to bully white men throughout the world. Yet after being attacked, he gets back up, stands his ground, and faces his attackers to defend whatever remains of his store.
His attackers, meanwhile, behave like a pack of hyenas. Whatever bravery they have is only because of their numbers and their de facto anonymity — police wouldn’t arrest them anyway.
So, the guy who looks like the punchline of a thousand jokes actually displays more honor in a single moment than literally the entire recorded history of his attackers.
He has no crowd to hide behind, no numerical advantage, and seemingly very little left to protect. What has happened to him will either be ignored or excused as having been caused by some kind of socio-economic problem which is ultimately his fault anyway. Nevertheless, he stands there.
I would take one thousand Jacques Blacks before taking a single refugee.

We want to destroy what our enemies call "civilization". Your "civilization" is based on alienation and exploitation. You're probably not even a part of the bourgeois civilization. You only passively consume it.
Supervisor: “You’re not responsible for the damage.”
I let out a breath.
Me: “So who is?”
She explained that another customer had rented the same model of car earlier that week. He had damaged its bumper, returned it after hours, and left the keys in the drop box.
The morning staff had mistakenly assigned that damaged car to me instead of the identical one I’d originally booked.
The rental company had then attached the wrong inspection report to my contract.
Me: “So you gave me a damaged car, told me it was perfect, and tried to charge me for it?”
She looked embarrassed.
Supervisor: “Yes. We’re correcting the record and removing the charge.”
I asked for written confirmation before leaving.
She printed it, signed it, and apologized again.
But as I was walking out, the agent called after me.
Agent: “Sir, can I ask you something?”
Me: “What?”
Agent: “How did you know to take pictures before driving away?”
I laughed.
Me: “My sister once spent three months arguing with a rental company over a scratch she didn’t cause.”
He nodded slowly.
Agent: “I’m going to start taking pictures of everything.”
Me: “Good. Take pictures of the fuel gauge too.”
He looked at me.
Me: “Trust me. That’s another argument you don’t want to have.”
I left with my $900 still in my account and a new rule for every trip: photograph the car before you even start the engine.

“Women are 1,000x more narcissistic than males” and then went full lecture mode. The part she said “you only get one mama, love her no matter what” vs “nobody ever says that about dad” point actually hit different.
And the part about women thinking they can talk to you any kind of way, put hands on you, and still expect you to speak of them like angels… whew.

I lost years and years due to learned helplessness, one day as a slightly better well adjusted adult I realized. 1.) everything the therapists said was true, it is a science &2.) I had to admit I was in my own way for long periods of time, and I had to cope with being wrong now

Can I be honest for a sec?
Regarding LLMs in gaming, I feel more confused than ever. And I would like my peers and other people who are familiar in this field to chime in.
It’s barely been a week since I made my post about distancing myself from a vibe coded project made by my friend in Smash. I even said “AI has no place in gaming”.
After I made that post, I was reached out to by multiple colleagues in the space and people hired full time in software development. They educated me severely on the topic and I feel dumb now for my earlier sentiments.
I was informed by my colleagues that it is now the norm to do 90% (and this is low estimate apparently) of all your coding with AI assistance or vibe coding. 75% of all new code at Google is made by AI and engineer approved.
The vast majority of all the apps we use now are updated or maintained with AI coding - I imagine that also goes for Twitter, the very app you’re reading this on.
So I figured okay - it’s here to stay in all software development - but where does that leave video games?
I saw the posts from Epic Games, XBOX, and other publishers that seem to embrace the new era instead of rejecting it.
In the last week I’ve been sent about a dozen different projects like this one that dissect and reintegrate Melee in multitudes of creative ways.
One of them is even a build of Melee that runs natively at 120FPS and one of them simulates the feeling of a CRT almost perfectly.
Some of them feel silly and useless, like low effort projects someone probably gave a single prompt and an ISO of Melee to build. Actual slop.
And yet some feel like legitimately useful things that the community or people practicing could benefit from.
I’m doing my best to navigate what is clearly a rapidly changing sector, especially when we regard the question of “Are Video Games Art?”
And since they clearly are art, does that render AI in its development a bastardized amalgamation of what’s been “learned” from people with actual original ideas?
Or is it strictly optimal to use AI in game development because games ARE software and therefore a necessary tool to wield in this day and age?
I am making this post because I need more guidance on this topic and I feel open discussion on it might be the best way to do that.
