OMFG! This response from @AbdulElSayed to a completely bigoted question is probably the best thing I’ve heard all year. Every bigot in America needs to listen to this three times.

YouTube is a publisher and Section 230 protects publishers. (Hall v. YouTube)
Replying to @jkimballcook
Except! YouTube is a platform, not a publisher. While publishers are liable for all content they display, Platforms are considered public forums and are not held liable for speech it's users post, as a matter of fact, moderating and editorializing content violates the free speech of those who use the platform. The exception to this is granted in section 230 of the Communications Act of 1934 allowing platforms to moderate egregious or offensive content. This has been abused and violated. Censoring speech you are not liable for is not an exercise of your own free speech, it's a violation of the free speech of others within the public forum.

Silence can help us most to recognize the voice of God, since it fosters attention and recollection. Freed from the noise of a thousand voices, we come to recognize that some voices deceive our desires, others buy us without nourishing us, and still others speak out of self-interest. In silence, we understand that ideologies pass away, while truth remains. vatican.va/content/leo-xiv/e…

However, when we discover that our life has value, that we are loved, awaited, and called to carry out a task in the world, then hope is born. This spiritual force sustains life, even in the most difficult moments.

Artificial intelligences do not undergo experiences, do not possess a body, do not feel joy or pain, do not mature through relationships, and do not know from within what love, work, friendship or responsibility mean. Nor do they have a moral conscience, since they do not judge good and evil, grasp the ultimate meaning of situations, or bear responsibility for consequences. They may imitate or even simulate, but they do not understand what they produce, for they lack the affective, relational, and spiritual perspective through which human beings grow in wisdom. #MagnificaHumanitas

Humanity, created by God in all its grandeur, is today facing a pivotal choice: either to construct a new Tower of Babel or to build the city in which God and humanity dwell together. In Jesus Christ, this humanity in its grandeur becomes the Way, the Truth and the Life, opening the path for each of us to grow toward fullness. #MagnificaHumanitas vatican.va/content/leo-xiv/e…

As evidenced by the unbridled promotion and implementation of technology at the expense of human dignity, we are truly experiencing an eclipse of the sense of what it means to be human. It is imperative to recover an understanding of the true meaning and grandeur of humanity as intended by God. It is in this sense that the challenge we currently face is not technological, but anthropological, and it is my hope that the Encyclical Letter to be published within a few days will contribute to answering this challenge.

Although we don’t yet have the details about the motives behind last night's shooting at the White House Correspondents Dinner, it’s incumbent upon all us to reject the idea that violence has any place in our democracy. It’s also a sobering reminder of the courage and sacrifice that U.S. Secret Service Agents show every day. I’m grateful to them – and thankful that the agent who was shot is going to be okay.

In a world wounded by arrogance, people hunger and thirst for justice. We must encourage those who believe in peace and dare to engage in “countercurrent” politics, which focus on the common good. What is urgently needed is the courage of new visions and an educational pact that gives young people space and trust. #ApostolicJourney #EquatorialGuinea vatican.va/content/leo-xiv/e…

Jack, you just accidentally made the strongest argument FOR Pope Leo XIV. You’re upset that he: ❌ Criticized harsh border enforcement, the same enforcement that separated children from mothers ❌ Defended human dignity after George Floyd’s death, a man made in God’s image ❌ Didn’t align with Trump and Vance politically Congratulations. You’ve just described Catholic Social Teaching. The Catechism (§2241) calls nations to welcome migrants. The Pope is not obligated to be a Republican. He is obligated to be a successor of the Apostles. St. John Paul II criticized American capitalism. Benedict XVI criticized Western materialism. Were they also ‘trashing’ America? The Pope’s job is not to validate your politics, it is to guard your soul. The fact that you measure a Pope’s worth by his Twitter feed rather than his faith, his decades of missionary service, and his sacred election… reveals more about your priorities than his. He was chosen by 133 Cardinals in sacred prayer. Not by a polling algorithm. Pray a Rosary, Jack. Our Lady will sort it out. 🙏

They also helped orchestrate fellow American boomer Leo's election.
"Influential"? These guys are all Boomer liberals, Francis appointees who do not represent the mainstream of US Catholic opinion, and certainly not where the spiritual energy is among the laity. Nor the future of the Catholic Church in the US.

This is our God: Jesus, King of Peace, who rejects war, whom no one can use to justify war. He does not listen to the prayers of those who wage war, but rejects them, saying: “Even though you make many prayers, I will not listen: your hands are full of blood” (Is 1:15).

You cannot argue with MAGA. They demand evidence, then call your sources biased. You provide primary sources, they claim they're doctored. You show them video, they say it's out of context. You give them context, they say you're cherry-picking. This isn't debate. This is a systematic refusal to allow reality to intrude on mythology. You're not arguing facts. You're arguing whether facts exist.

❌ WHAT’S MISLEADING 1. It wasn’t Obama deciding to “send cash to Iran” out of nowhere. The U.S. lost an international lawsuit. Had the U.S. not settled, it risked: •Paying up to $10 billion instead of $1.7B •Further diplomatic fallout This was Iran’s own money, plus court-ordered interest. 2. Congress did know. Congress was briefed on: •The settlement •The Iran nuclear deal •The frozen funds issue There was political outrage, but nothing illegal occurred, so no investigation was launched. 3. The DOJ, FBI, or Congress had nothing to investigate. The payment: •Was publicly disclosed •Was legally authorized •Followed a tribunal ruling dating back to before Obama Multiple Republican-led committees looked at it anyway and found no criminal wrongdoing. ⸻ 📌 BOTTOM LINE (Factually Accurate Summary) •The U.S. sent Iran $1.7B consisting of their own frozen money + legally required interest. •Some of it was sent as cash only because sanctions blocked bank transfers. •It was part of a court settlement, not a secret deal. •Oversight bodies reviewed it but found no basis for criminal investigation.

It’s called religious authoritarianism to think that you, as Catholics should law enforce on everyone else your faith based beliefs. Your big feelings that abortion is murder is based in your faith. Lots of other faiths do not believe that. Stop trying to become the government
