Absolutely crazy to see these developments. We can now run all PlayStation generations on one console. Given that Sony is hell-bent on abandoning its fans, this seems like the perfect way to close the PlayStation chapter for good and enjoy preserved greatness without corpo greed.
Put a PS3 disk into a jailbroken PS5, and you now (thanks to an emulator) run the PS3 game. So yeah, I do hope Sony make this a default thing for PS6. Because it's clear the PS5 has enough grunt to run all Playstation generations.

The developer behind free, open-source alternatives to Adobe software is now taking on Microsoft Office. Brandon Thomas, the creator of the ArtCraft project, has unveiled three more tools designed to replicate Microsoft’s most popular apps: >WordCraft – an alternative to Microsoft Word. >GridCraft – an alternative to Microsoft Excel. >DeckCraft – an alternative to Microsoft PowerPoint. he wants to give people free alternatives to expensive software subscriptions using AI And he’s not stopping at Microsoft and Adobe. Autodesk alternatives and other subscription-based software could also be part of the plan.

Every generation, they took away a privilege you had for free, and made you pay for it🚀 ✅They took away backwards compatibility, and made you either repurchase games digitally, buy their remasters or through PlayStation Plus, even though it’s been proven recently that PS2 and soon PS3 games can run from disc on jailbroken PS5 ✅They made you pay for PS+ to be able to play online and to seamlessly transfer saves, even though you could do that with USB before and you can play online for free on PC ✅They normalized games being $70 to justify their fishy hundreds of millions budgets and 7 years bloated development cycles for games that are graphics first; everything else later; even though many $50 games or even $70 with $60 to 100m budgets that were even higher in overall quality and shipped every other year from the likes of Capcom games and Clair Obscur ✅Now they’re trying to gaslight you that discs don’t sell, even though data PROVED them wrong ✅And they’re trying to gaslight you into thinking you don’t need to own your games, so you can stay at the mercy of their store policies and eventually be tied forever to their subscription services Just because a company makes a “statement” doesn’t mean it’s true. They CAN lie. They DO lie. For their own benefits, as that’s the only thing that matters to them, while you don’t. So speak out! Vote with your voice/wallet NO DISC 💿 NO BUY

Former PlayStation CEO, Shawn Layden spoke against Sony ending physical media and shed light on the concerns about game ownership in a digital-only future🚀 “If you don't own it, what are you buying?” He added that this decision will be “a significant brand hit” and a “reputation bite” for PlayStation. He went on to list the benefits of collecting and showing off your collection of games, and highlighted the very real concern about ownership: “I think this is probably the more insidious aspect to it, is that it changes the conversation [to] ‘do you own a game or do you have access to a digital asset. If you can’t sell a thing, that means you don’t own a thing. And if you don’t own it, then what are you buying? If you’re buying access, that doesn’t quite sound as sexy, to be honest. And people, as people tend to do, in their mind they’ll game out the worst case scenario. And that’s a whole lot of brand hit and reputation bite that – as I said, I don’t have any visibility on the financials around it – but that’s a significant brand hit, and I hope it made sense to them.” Once again, much respect to Layden as he proves to understand gamers and their concerns, rather than purely pleasing investors. Him and Shuhei Yoshida would make great CEOs for Sony and probably are the only ones who can steer it back to what once was an unquestionably great entity at the top of the industry🥺 NO DISC 💿 NO BUY

🚨 A New Reality for Physical Games🚨 There’s a lot changing behind the scenes in the video game industry right now — things customers don’t always see. We don’t want to create FOMO or tell anyone they need to rush out and buy everything. But we do want to give you a heads-up about the reality of physical games today. If there’s a new game you know you want physically, we highly recommend preordering it. Print runs for many titles are becoming smaller, and we’re seeing more and more games sell out at launch. Unfortunately, getting additional copies afterward isn’t always as simple as placing another order. And here’s the part that’s becoming increasingly important: A preorder does not always guarantee a copy anymore. Allocations can be cut, production quantities can change, and sometimes there simply aren’t enough copies manufactured to meet demand. Restocks are also becoming more difficult and, in some cases, more expensive. Smaller reprint quantities, higher manufacturing costs and other industry changes can mean that a game that originally retailed for $X may come back at a higher cost — or may not come back at all. This is a very different physical game market than the one we’ve been used to. We’ll continue doing everything we can to track down games, secure additional stock, pursue reprints and keep physical games available for as long as we possibly can. We just want our customers to be aware of the changing landscape. If you really want a game physically, preordering is becoming more important than ever. 💿 It’s a new world for physical games. We’re adapting — and we’ll keep fighting to keep them on shelves.

Between Sony's plans, the general push for digital-only, and the draconian EU Kids Act not only our favorite hobby is in danger, but the freedom of the internet as a whole. Speak up or somebody else decides for you! Push back or get trampled over! Fight now or it's over!
Replying to @PlayStation
We will continue to share our perspective. But it isn't unique. Every person with common sense should oppose your plans to kill discs and should oppose a digital-only future that removes every hope for ownership and customer protection. #PhysicalGamesMatter

All hands on deck! This is the biggest threat to Stop Killing Games yet! The EU #KidsAct could end #StopKillingGames by collapsing the EU gaming market and making private and community servers illegal!: youtu.be/mQRcK9nYg9g "The best thing you can do is spread the word...The people who write this crap do not like it when the public at large knows what they're trying to do to you" - @accursedfarms Don't just take our word for it, here's the EU Kids Act to see for yourself.
