PMC COVlD Update (U.S.)
Nov 2, 2026
Transmission typically falls in October, but not this year. We're seeing the highest levels for this time of year relative to any prior year since pandemic onset. Let that sink in.
Presently, 47 states and territories have known outbreaks. The PMC model estimates that >1 million Americans are getting infected each day, meeting our criteria for characterizing transmission as a "surge." We estimate that 1 in 43 Americans are actively infectious, varing considerably be region.
Watch the video to learn why I am especially concerned. Find more data and our weekly report:

Imagine if Elon's $500 million had been spent on education or healthcare. Or the arts. Anything.

Serious stuff.
Deadly serious.
Cyberattack on France’s national blood service (EFS) via its refrigeration contractor Coolworld. Hackers reset freezers keeping blood donor samples at -30°C to a target of 110°C. The thing that stopped it from destructive impact was an on-call technician who noticed the temperatures going up. Frozen plasma intended for transfusion was stored there too. Fortunately nothing was destroyed. This was a cyberattack on a sensitive layer of healthcare. From frozen peas to boiling plasma in three weeks...?

Perhaps the best news of the night is that Democrats picked up enough Senate seats to make John Fetterman and his vote irrelevant.
Change is now possible.

“I watch Fox News all day”
Never forget that even in an era of social media misinformation and radicalization, Fox is still at the center of the right’s grip on its base.
Trump supporter: Trump has ended 7 or 8 wars, maybe 9.
Q: Which wars?
TS: Venezuela, Africa. I watch Fox News all day. They keep sharp on things.
Even though I don't know the countries that he stopped wars, he said he did, and I believe he did. I watch Fox to know what's going on in this country.
Q: Do you ever watch the others?
TS: They are fake news. Fox is real.

We're getting Covid 1-2 every year
A 2025 CDC analysis found that people dx w/COVID had a higher rate of thrombotic events, including stroke, than those w/other respiratory infections
Are you going to monitor how often he’s being infected with Covid?

Stevens is so Trumpian in her pettiness, thinskinnedness and narcissism.
NEW in @playbookdc: Inside the personal gripes behind Haley Stevens’ flip
Stevens had been venting about perceived slights by AOC — including over not being invited to recent MI event with AOC, and a text from 2025 that went unanswered
AOC called Stevens last week in a bid to prevent her defection, after a 25-minute call, Stevens assured her she was staying with Dems, per source familiar
The two even exchanged warm texts, with Stevens telling AOC she thought she “did the right thing” after not flipping during the CNN interview, writing, “Now back to the productive stuff,” per texts reviewed by Playbook
Less than a week later, Stevens endorsed Mike Rogers

How exactly is bombing a country at the request of a genocidal war criminal that started the illegal war “defensive”?
Do you just repeat anything they tell you?

Teaching kids maskless while covid still rages and telling them that we’re past covid while occupying the role of being one of the only adults kids can trust is an absolute abdication of your professional responsibility. You’re lying to them and harming them. You’re no teacher.

I don’t think people fully understand what’s at stake here. Everywhere I turn, people are casually discussing a worldwide Ebola outbreak as if we’re discussing influenza. All of Public Health is getting the Covid Treatment, as our fused neurons struggle to make sense of the world. This is going to kill us all.
