Beautifully put Alex. I’m in full agreement. The level of respect, love and regard Sir William Sharp has from both sides of the city is admirable. Most Wednesday fans I speak to fully agree with your sentiment that they have a huge respect, fondness and awe for the man.
Sheffield isn't the greatest at celebrating its triumphs. The career of Billy Sharp is absolutely one. I'd wager most Wednesdayites hold a begrudging respect.
More here, including insight from Brian Laws on schmoozing Sharp at a flooded S6👇

Genuinely think we should just ban every single footballer from driving
England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford nearly caused a crash with two other cars during a bout of careless driving in his £200,000 Lamborghini supercar, a court has heard.
The 32-year-old was pulled over by police after ignoring a give way sign, forcing two cars to slam on the brakes, and then speeding off into the distance.
The incident happened in the Cheshire town of Knutsford on 14 April, sparking a criminal prosecution for driving without due care or attention.
Pickford, who has 336 appearances for Everton and 92 England caps, has pleaded guilty to the charge and will next appear at Chester Magistrates' Court on 7 December.
Don’t think I’ve ever met anyone that’s found Romesh Ranganathan funny. Yet he’s on TV more than I see my wife
This is absolutely my bottom line feeling on the City debacle. Whatever plays out, Klopp and LFC are in every meaningful sense the British team of the last decade and in the discussion for the greatest in the history of the domestic game. Not been measurable (yet) in quantum of trophies, but it’s surely now beyond reasonable moral dispute.
Klopp’s Liverpool are arguably English football’s greatest ever side. If measured out in points totals, definitely. The 2019 team has the greatest *real* points total in history, and added a CL the same season. Then there’s the 2022 team that without City’s fraud has the second highest points total, and a domestic treble.
Football, in sanctioning city, can try to reflect all of this or not, but the ultimate truth is more evident now than ever.
I’ve defended RND before but I’m all in favour of waterboarding him before the drive back to Sheffield
Regardless of what you make of signing Ayew, he’s here now so back him. We’re becoming a right moaning fan base
We had no attacking options off the bench on Saturday bar Cannon. I don’t mind this. Bloke’s played over 300 times in the Prem and played at 3 world cups. He’s also never had pace to lose unlike Ings
Been trying since last week to firm up whispers of Ayew but usual sources tight-lipped - but judging by Chris Wilder’s comments today it’s easy to see why he’s emerged as a possible target

Some brass neck on the owner: spend absolutely fuck all, sell our creative players, get a winding-up order, and then decide to do a documentary
Bet he’s delighted to move from Annecy to Barnsley
✍️ DONE DEAL ✍️
🔴 Barnsley have signed striker Ben Hamed Touré from French second-tier side FC Annecy for an undisclosed fee.
The 23-year-old Ivorian has agreed a three-year deal with the Reds, with a club option for an extra year.
