We had a wonderful day at Grace Baptist Church today for our First Responders Day. It's always a privilege to recognize those who serve so selflessly in our community. We were honored to host the Mayor, Fire Chief, Chief Deputy of the Sheriff's Office, and representatives from the Columbus Police Department. Our church was unexpectedly presented with a Key to the City and a Proclamation from the Mayor. We're thankful for the opportunity to serve those who serve our city.
Looking unto Jesus puts everything in its proper place. He will carry you through life’s hurts and disappointments. When others fail, He never will. Trust God always. #Faith
Heb 12:2-3 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.

We had a great weekend at Grace Baptist!
Thankful for the men who came out and worked in the rain on Saturday to help clear and prepare a portion of the property the Lord has graciously given us. We’re also praying for our teens and leaders as they head off to camp this week. May God do a great work in their hearts!
It was a joy to be part of Bro. Mateo Mejia's ordination service with Pastor Daniel Pena and the people of Inglesia Bautista Tierra Santa. I am looking forward to Bro. Mateo joining @GBCColumbus as our Spanish pastor!
We had a fantastic Wild Game Dinner last night! I appreciate @deriklawrence with @SendMeDogMin for bringing his dogs and speaking for us! We saw 18 men make decisions for Christ! Great night!

We condemn the actions of Don Lemon and the group of activists who stormed Cities Church today in St. Paul, Minnesota, in clear violation of the FACE Act. Christians everywhere should demand that the Department of Justice arrest those who participated. We must protect religious liberty in this country.

Church @pinecrestchurch family,
I want to speak to you as your pastor with a shepherd’s heart. This comes from a place of calmness, clarity, and caring conviction. Many of you may have heard about a group of Buddhist monks walking through our community on what they are calling a “peace walk.” Let me say this first and without hesitation: any sincere desire for peace in a violent and broken world should be acknowledged. We live in a culture marked by anxiety, anger, division, and unrest, and people everywhere are longing for peace.
However, as followers of Jesus Christ, we must lovingly but firmly remember this truth: not all peace is the same, and not all paths to peace are true.
Buddhism, while often presented as peaceful and philosophical, is a belief system that denies a personal God, denies sin as Scripture defines it, and offers no Savior. It teaches inner calm without addressing guilt, discipline without redemption, and enlightenment without atonement. It may soothe emotions, but it cannot save the soul.
The Bible is unmistakably clear:
“For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us.” (Ephesians 2:14)
Peace is not a feeling we manufacture. Peace is a Person, the Lord Jesus Christ.
Jesus Himself said,
“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you.” (John 14:27)
The world offers peace through meditation, moral effort, or detachment from desire. Christ offers peace through the forgiveness of sins, reconciliation with God, and a changed heart. One approach quiets the mind; the other resurrects the soul.
We must be careful not to confuse kindness with compromise. We can respect people without endorsing their message. We can be courteous without being silent. Scripture warns us:
“There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.” (Proverbs 14:12)
True peace does not come from walking miles, it comes from bowing knees. It does not come from emptying the mind, it comes from being filled with the Spirit. It does not come from self-denial, it comes from surrender to Christ.
Our response as believers should not be fear, anger, or mockery but discernment, prayer, and bold gospel clarity. Let this moment remind us that our community is searching, and searching people need the truth spoken in love.
“And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:7)
Church, let us be grateful for peace initiatives, but let us never forget, and never fail to proclaim:
There is no lasting peace apart from the Prince of Peace.
Grace and peace,
Pastor John
