Public golf can be cool every once in a while. Feeling at home. #gem
As a follow up to Gabby‘s article, if Yale was in fantastic condition, is it a top 100 golf course in the United States?
Replying to @GabbyHerzig
@GabbyHerzig’s article in @TheAthletic nails the @Yale_GolfCourse situation. The good news is the athletic department will no longer run the facility. These conditions are not the fault of the course superintendent but a lack of proper priorities. Photos taken last week.
Wow, had heard rumblings of how it’s in rough shape. Had no idea it was this bad. What is a fair green fee for the condition it’s in right now for anyone who has played?

Here are photos from the Yale Course on Thursday, Sep. 17th.
Gil Hanse: “I do not believe that there is anyone who has been involved in this project who could be objectively happy with how the course is currently being maintained and presented.”
Will be curious to see the initiation fees and target demographic of the club. You can already see the copy pasted Americana spec homes being built, that’s a bummer. Not even private courses near the home of golf have character anymore.
La Sasso is punching air today
I would pay good money to see Michael La Sasso dog walk Jackson Koivun in a match this fall. 🔥
Make it happen @GrantHorvatGolf @bryanbrosgolf
It starts from the top. If America wants to be better at team golf the PGA tour needs to incorporate it more in their schedule (which they finally are). Rory and Shane played Zurich last year and won, did any big US names play? More match play on tour would be a good start.
If you want to fix @RyderCupUSA & the 🇺🇸 Team, I just think you have to make the team more competitive. After this 🏆 OF COURSE 🇺🇸 will pretend like they have it figured out now😂. Newsflash, they don’t. Instead of just randomly picking players based on data (that doesn’t matter in the moment) & who’s in/out the boys club, I wanna know who’s good in team match play & who’s good on the course you’re gonna be playing.
➡️ 6 auto picks if you have to (with a better points system).
➡️ Then take the next 18 guys & play a series of matches as close to the Cup as possible, on the Cup course or a similar course. Have them play it out over the month leading up. Make them earn it - meritocracy! Lobby to change the pick timetable to your advantage. Be more prepared.♟️before the match. Delay the picks.
I guarantee you, you find out who you want on your team. Who wants to be there, who’s gonna fight, who has it, who doesn’t. Maybe you have no auto picks & have all 24 play it out for 12 spots? If Scottie wants to stay home, let him. Young guns vs Cup veterans. Foursome teams that work & don’t. Let’s find out. Take the bias out.
You can’t determine who’s gonna be good in these team competitions by who led the field in SG Putting at the John Deere or some random event 6 months ago on Bermuda greens that has no correlation to the course you’re gonna be playing in the Cup. Or by who played well in the Cup years ago but doesn’t have it now.
There’s a lot of ways you can sort it in this “training camp” competition, but something has to change, and they have to do something different. This gives you a huge advantage over any team you’re playing that’s not doing what you’re doing.
Honestly, the more I think about it, JJ Spaun not being picked for this @PresidentsCup team bothers me. He should’ve been there. He was good in the @rydercup. Winning record + Top 4 statistically. 12th OWGR. And let’s be honest, the optics of one of the only eligible brown American players getting left off this team because he’s outside the club - not a good look.
Bottom line is i don’t see how anything that happened at the #PresidentsCup changes any #RyderCup discourse. They HAVE to start thinking outside the box for a change if they want ANY chance in 🇮🇪. I have a million other ideas but these are some free ones. You can’t do what you’ve done - but I know nothing will change without different leadership/structure. That’s a guarantee.
This is exactly why Keegan lost the Ryder Cup. He thinks Russell Henley has no weaknesses.
Smylie’s been trying to place a comparison for Jackson Koivun… and got a great one from assistant captain @Keegan_Bradley yesterday 🇺🇸
Here’s @SmylieKaufman10 & @charliehulme on Koivun’s @PresidentsCup debut 🏆

This is like Euros asking why they bring Ian Poulter every two years.

How does JT even make the team? Whats he done this year for that to make sense?
Never saw this. So savage I love it.
It's hard to believe it’s already been a year since Bethpage 💙💛
I’m still so proud of this team and incredibly grateful to have shared those moments and made history together. Being Captain is a privilege I’ll always cherish.
To everyone who gave everything for Europe, my family who supported me every step of the way and the fans who made New York feel like home, thank you.
A week I’ll never forget 🇪🇺
