The real change I’m trying to see in this country is an improved Houston Texans defense that meets their potential.

Here are all 33 stuffed runs (out of 167 total run plays) of the Houston Texans through seven games this season, using NFL Pro (@NextGenStats).
(stuffed = no gain)
(Note: Texans rushers are being stuffed at the LOS at a 19.8% rate, which is 5th-worst in the NFL).
What do you notice scheme wise?..

Here's one from the candidate rankings:
Who is Randy Flores, the new #Astros GM? @_JeremyBooth and I talked about 'Flo' and his credentials on the Oct 22 episode of Extra Bases.
Booth makes the case for Flores as Astros GM, praising the Cardinals executive's scouting success and pioneering use of video analytics.

All 14 offensive snaps from Tank Dell's first game back vs. NYG.
The biggest thing that jumps off the tape is his get-off, burst and acceleration. That explosiveness looks to be back.
Some notable stats:
14 snaps, 9 passing / 5 rushing
8 snaps with him in pre-snap motion (57%), mostly cheat motion, with a couple of jet motions
1 rushing attempt
72.0 PFF offensive grade (2nd on team)
76.2 PFF receiving grade
Houston also used the threat of Dell on jet motion to influence the defense, including a fake jet sweep.
Small sample, but encouraging to see his explosiveness and how they're already finding ways to utilize it. Need to keep building on this.

This is THE best hire they could’ve made.
He was out earlier in the week, and things change.
They got this one right

What’s funny is that the Texans aspire to be a smashmouth, physical running team, yet refuse to carry an actual fullback and instead insist on using undersized tight ends in that role. 😂

There's a new leader in EPA per play vs. the blitz: C.J. Stroud and Jared Goff both overtook Brock Purdy
Replying to @SumerSports
Brock Purdy is the most efficient quarterback against the blitz, but his lead isn't as commanding as it was last week.

Coming into Week 6, CJ Stroud was the NFL's least blitzed QB (22.1%), perhaps because he ranked 1st in success rate and 2nd in explosive play rate vs. the blitz.
Jacksonville responded by blitzing him on a season high 37.1% of dropbacks.
The result? Stroud went 9/13 for 68 yards and a TD vs. the blitz, and 10/11 for 118 yards and 2 TDs under pressure.
He remains lights out vs. the blitz this year and effective under pressure.
Per @NextGenStats & PFF.
