I’ve done what I could in @UKHouseofLords to bring an end to the scandal of IPP and DPP prisoners and I am delighted by the Government’s announcement today that there will be legislation to put this injustice behind us. I hope this will find cross-party support.

On Friday 15th, is the second reading of the resentencing of IPPs in the House of Lords. There is no justification for this not to go through and finally correct this longstanding torture for those still serving it and their families so they can be free to live their lives.

Going to an IPP license termination party this evening. I know it's only a small win, but I'll take it for now after the last few years of working on it. Also it will make those 1800 peoples lives much better. Next, get them all out of prison, then reparations. ✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿 #IPPscandal

As I type this, approx 1800 IPP licences have now been terminated. Although this is a big moment for some of us, we still all must support the movement to have every single IPP left in the system released.

"Work through their sentence" @JamesTCobbler? They have 'worked through' their original sentence tariff years ago, in some cases decades. You are arbitrarily keeping them locked up in prison. That is a crime that will catch up with you and the whole ministry. #IPPscandal

🚨HUGELY IMPORTANT UPDATE No one should spend 12 years in jail for stealing a mobile phone! I’m backing fresh attempt to resolve the #IPPscandal once &for all by supporting a Private Members’ Bill by Labour peer Lord Woodley for resentencing Let’s end this monumental injustice

This labour government is bloody dragging their feet bringing in this IPP amendment ain't they!? Set the date already, end my bloody licence & the bloody anxiety of being on it everyday. Give myself & my family some peace.

Prison doesn't prevent people from causing crime. Just ask the staff & other inmates who have been abused, robbed, raped or killed. Our current system is simply an institute to prefect your crime, not a place for rehabilitation & learning a better way.

You would imagine considering the probation service is on it's knees and cannot cope with their case loads, they would be more than happy to move you on and let you get on with your life!!! Hang in there mate - it will be resolved one way or another.

It was badly implemented in the first place. However what has made it worse is that since it was abolished in 2012, over a decade ago, nothing has been done to correct it. If we make a mistake, we serve time in prison. If MPs make a mistake, they simply shrug their shoulders.

Thank you everyone for sharing this to 14 million views & helping me to raise awareness of this tragic miscarriage of justice. Now it’s time for the final push. Voting on the amendments will take place this week. Let’s get it to 15 million & let @UKLabour know we need them to step up & join Lib Dem & Green Party peers to end this stain on our justice system Let’s not wait for an @ITV drama @Keir_Starmer @ShabanaMahmood @KevinBrennanMP
THIS IS SHOCKING Imagine a country where a man has spent 18 years in jail for trying to steal a coat or imprisoned for 11 yrs for stealing a mobile phone - sentences described by the UN as egregious miscarriages of justice it’s unthinkable & it’s happening in this country NOW
