I, for one, think the community acted as the community should have - we're quick to accept people, so we need to be quick to judge people, and that means judging new people with a lot of moment to the extremes, good and bad, until our assumptions are replaced with facts as we get to know them (since they didn't bother helping us get to know them slowly). Usually, new furries take their time to understand the community, learn about the norms, establish their presence, and make friends, to where the growth is natural, we really get to know who this person is, and we develop good opinions about them slowly. When someone with a lot of momentum busts in, doing all the right memes, new suit, tons of art, interacting in our spaces, with no clear connection to anyone we know, we kind of have to decide, off the rip, if they're an okay person, with very little information to go off of. And, as is the case when this person arrived, before their green suit, they didn't really understand the social norms of the community that well and proceeded to step all over the boundaries we had made. They learned over time, but the negative voices were just as important as the positive ones in challenging what we know about someone and letting that new person know that they are scaring the ho's. For all we know, there could have been someone far worse under that cute, green head, and we wouldn't have even cared because cute animal person make brain go brrrrr.
