Things are calming down here.. winds are still up a little and occasiona rain passing through. Over where the hurricane is it essentially toast at this point. Still dangerous, but not what it could have been. Been a long day, going to bed, have to take The Boy to work early early. Going to go read and crash. Good night, and thank God for answered prayers.

Hurricane now down to Cat 1 as it passed the barrier islands. Likely be a Tropical Storm by the time it leaves Florida! When you go out to do cleanup tomorrow and you want to grumble.. just remember, it could have been MUCH worse!

We are onshore.. center seems to be drifting NE.. but also has to be a bear right now even trying to define the center.. so the drift could just be being unsure where center really even is.

Storm has run out of gas. We wqere expecting wind and rain till mid day tomorrow, and severe rain and modest winds till maybe 1am. We are where the black star is on the picture.. what is left is passing east of us.. we can actually see the stars right now. Rain is mostly gone.. the wind is there but nothing bad. Big change.. couple hours ago lights were flickers, we had already decided power was going off.. then nothing. Maybe an inch of rain total.

Dear Floridians in the path of the storm tonight, Many of us in the state have been right where you are today. Many of you have done this before, several times.. But for those who may be new to the area.. this will be a highly stressful, and anxious experience. Afterdark landfalls are just the worst, you hear the wind howling, see the rain.. here things bumping in the dark, it plays on your emotions, you are certain things will be far worse in the morning than they really are. A few things to give you hope tonight while you ride out the storm.. at home or at a shelter. The dawn will come.. and with it will ride the fullweight of the greatest state in America. Staged all over north Florida right now, this very second.. are thousands of Electrical linesmen with their trucks.. from many states, and from every co-op in Florida. Tree removal trucks by the hundreds! The Florida National Guard and the Florida State Guard.. all just waiting until the winds slow enough to get on the road. Volunteer groups from around the state, churches packing trailers with supplies to deliver to you.. and of course, the seemingly endless convoy of #Publix Trucks headed your way. @GovRonDeSantis is STILL Governor, and we all know he will take charge and fix what needs fixing. FDOT can put up a bridge in a week.. You have always sent your people to help us around the state when we needed help, it is simply our turn to return the favor. May God keep you and your families tonight as you weather the storm, we will ALL be seeing you tomorrow. Florida always shows up.
