"CoCo" sent its tax measure to 800,000 ineligible voters. Now it wants $295M/year.
The election official overseeing it? A lawyer whose travel billing drew scrutiny on California's bullet train — a project he advises w/ billions spent & no track laid.
Today @DenverGazette: 🔗👇
"The signature rail project Butzin advises has spent billions on what critics call a 'train to nowhere,' a label even California Gov. Gavin Newsom acknowledges.
That same lawyer is now general counsel for Colorado’s shiny new rail boondoggle, marketed as the 'Colorado Connector,' aka 'Coco.' And he's the designated election official responsible for the flubbed ballot asking voters to trust the passenger rail district with hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars."
Agreed. This is just vile. There's no place for it in our politics.
October is known for disgusting political attacks, but we cannot be indifferent or tolerant -- this must be condemned. | @kathrynlopez

"Sure, Butzin's 'train to nowhere' in California was a failure, but it's unfair to hold that against them," said a CoCo spokesperson. "Butzin's core competency is selling rail projects and collecting the fees. Building them was never really their thing."

.@SengCenter: "CoCo isn’t as ambitious a project as California’s, but the fundamental issue raised by Butzin’s involvement is whether those steering Colorado’s project have a record of delivering on their promises and at what cost." #copolitics

Calling #Jeffco voters… Here’s more research that concludes across the board teacher pay raises (like those Prop 5A will fund if it passes) don’t improve students’ academic results. #edcolo #copolitics @ChalkbeatCO @ReadyColo @CSInstituteCO @SengCenter
NCTQ President @HeatherPeske said it best. 👏 When school budgets tighten, every dollar has to work harder. Most states’ teacher compensation systems still run on autopilot, paying more for years of service and credentials that don’t improve student outcomes while doing little to reward their most effective teachers and those working in hard-to-staff schools and subjects.
We can do better—because teachers deserve better. nctq.org/research-insights/s…

Exactly right.
If the VP wants to remain friends with Carlson, an individual who is thoroughly evil and full of hate for our country, for millions of Christians and, of course, Jews, and who is openly and publicly diabolical with his selection of guests and messaging, not to mention has made the most vile personal attacks against our president, then the VP will have to run for the GOP nomination with that anchor around his neck. He will have to defend it over and over again, as will his most vocal supporters. Should he receive the nomination, it will only get worse. But it's up to him.
President Trump made his decision long ago, and publicly condemned Carlson. It's not about loyalty. It's about right versus wrong and on what basis friendships are built. Yes, the VP will be judged, at least in part, by his very close association with Carlson, as all politicians are examined. To be clear, most Americans do not tolerate the kind of shockingly radical and evil views held by Carlson. They certainly do not befriend such people. The likes of Carlson are not new to our politics.
Another weasely answer when asked about antisemitism on the Right.
He's such a disappointment. And he has no business being the next POTUS.
My cousin JD just got asked point-blank by a father whose little kids survived a terrorist attack at Temple Israel if he would confront the antisemitism coming from his own side specifically Tucker Carlson.
What did he do? He gave the smooth “I condemn antisemitism, I condemn Jew-hatred” answer and then stopped. He would not name the man.
He would not draw the line.
I will say” / “Here’s what I’ll say”
And here is what I say cousin:
I have spent 27 years lifting up the real history of Owsley and Breathitt of Kentucky so our people would not be called dumb trailer-trash hillbillies.
You took that same bloodline, put it in a book, let Hollywood mock it, and then walked away from the values our people actually stand on.
Gee thanks J.D. stereotyped the very people I have spent decades on accentuating the rich history of.
At heart you are just like Tucker Carlson. That is not leadership. That is not ready. And that is why I will never support you for higher office.
Family does not mean silence. Genesis 12:3 still stands. I will not apologize for standing with Israel or against the hate you refuse to name.

This would be a really beautiful response if he ended by answering his question and condemning Tucker and his antisemitism—but he didn’t.

Here’s a crazy idea: if he just condemned Tucker unequivocally for his antisemitism and Hitler revisionism, people would stop asking him about Tucker and he could go on to talk about what he wants to talk about.
JD Vance on Tucker Carlson:
Tucker, obviously, one of the reasons he's very, very angry is over the Iran war. He does not like the Iran war.
He and I have had that conversation in private, in public. I know how he feels, and I understand.
What I've said to Tucker is, "Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater."

A video of me explaining the Cornell rape hoax on TikTok has thousands and thousands of comments about my Jewish star.
Guys: that's not an accident.
If you are unskeptically getting your news from social media, you're being propagandized.
It's an op—and you're the target.

Jena Griswold's debate attacks on Michael Allen backfired.
She called him a liar about her courtroom experience. She never said what it is.
She hit him on discrimination claims. Her office paid $120K to settle a racial discrimination complaint.
My latest @DenverGazette: 🔗👇
"Wednesday’s debate was Griswold’s chance to demonstrate she belongs in the attorney general’s office. It exposed the opposite. Allen came prepared; she brought deflections.
No wonder it’s the only debate Griswold accepted. Her preferred format? To borrow her phrase: 'No questions asked.'"

“There is an entire MAGA industrial complex that has risen up in the Trump era that thinks it has permanently won arguments, when it has really just drafted behind Trump and Trumpism. They’ve pushed through open doors and doors knocked off their hinges by Trump, and think they’ve won an intellectual argument. But the midterms look poised to deal a massive blow to that, in part because their arguments for protectionism, industrial policy, and mass deportation have not yielded anything like the “golden age” that was promised. I find the idea that these guys—the self-styled intellectuals, the jabroni remora apparatchiks, and the get-rich-while-the-getting-is-good grifters, alike—will be well situated to win arguments on the right or anywhere else in the post-Trump era very implausible. Because the record of their tenure, in terms of policy and politics, won’t look like a golden age to anybody.”
