The 2023 Canadian fire season is like no-other in the satellite record (2000-pres). Here are the accumulated fire-radiative power (FRP) curves, with 2023 (magenta) in a league of its own. Note that smoke production is proportional to FRP. (data= MODIS, results= prelim) #pyrocene

The Polis Administration has acknowledged that oil & gas is a major contributor to our ozone problem & we couldn't agree more. But let's not stop there. We know what needs to happen & we need prompt & decisive action to cut down on emissions from this rapidly expanding industry.
Today, I am proud to announce a new effort to curb harmful air pollution from the oil and gas sector by 30% within two years and the first comprehensive nitrogen oxides (NOx) reduction program for oil and gas in the U.S. that will rapidly make our air cleaner.

What amazing afternoon at the Dairy with the good people of Boulder and the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes who did an amazing job in sharing very personal stories clearing the history from Fort Chambers to Sand Creek. They opened the space with powerful drumming and prayers.

Plan B!

Papalotes, papagayos, cometas, barriletes! Kites are a sign of our culture, very representative of freedom, adventure, nature and agility. We launched more than 15 kites into the air on this beautiful windy afternoon, thus rescuing something of our culture!
In these times of great uncertainty, Mother Earth continues to be a safe and powerful space that gives us all so much joy. This new year will bring many more new trails which we are ready to explore! #explorandosenderosdeboulder

Yesterday Explorando Senderos de Boulder explored from "Settler's Park" to downtown. A huge thank you goes out to @downtownboulder, as they provided a delicious snack with cookies and hot chocolate, a ride on the little train, a "Frosti" gift photos with Santa, hats, and games.
