There's even been a paper exploring this very issue, and deaf colleagues, including @jahochcam, have led on complaints to journals about this in the past, and yet it's still a problem. Who is reviewing this material? Clearly no deaf academics! aclanthology.org/2023.resour…

Oh dear! 🤦🏻‍♂️
Qualifications Wales suspended GCSE BSL indefinitely. Instead they've come up with a fraction of a qualification which can be taught in as little as 5 hours by an unqualified "BSL teacher". It is meaningless, insulting and a tokenistic exercise. Trick or treat.

The German Bundestag has witnessed its first-ever address by a deaf MP. Heike Heubach of the Social Democrats used sign language to communicate, and was applauded by MPs from several parties.
