This is the AI cyber warning we should pay attention to. 100+ organisations, including OpenAI, Microsoft, Google and Anthropic, are saying we have a “limited window” to strengthen cyber defences. But the most important part? “Status quo security won’t be enough.” AI doesn’t need to invent new weaknesses. It can find, chain and exploit the ones we already have, faster and at scale. Unpatched systems. Excessive privileges. Weak authentication. Misconfiguration. Technical debt. We don’t need to wait for the next generation of AI to fix those. The window is now. 🔐 Read the open letter from OpenAI openai.com/collective-cyberd… #CyberSecurity #AI #CyberRisk

Hackers carried out a cyber attack on hundreds of French supermarkets overnight - pushing temperatures in fridges up to 50C and sparking fires. Les Mousquetaires, which owns retailer Intermarche, said that approximately 150 of its stores were affected, with the retail group forced to throw all the food away. news.sky.com/share/13598252

news.sky.com/share/13598799 Artificial intelligence (AI) is "supercharging" security threats to the UK, including the potential development by terrorists and states of new killer bioweapons, the head of MI5 has warned. The Security Service has launched an assessment centre this year to examine AI risks, Sir Ken McCallum revealed, amid concerns about the possibility of some form of self-deciding super intelligence posing a danger to the whole of humanity.

ASOS shares down by almost 5% after news of hack ASOS shares are feeling some pain. They were down by almost 5% at one stage as the hacking reports first emerged. Investors, yet to hear directly from the company, are likely to have been somewhat startled by the push notifications seen on customer mobile phones. The stock was up by more than 70% in the year to date ahead of the scare. news.sky.com/share/13591381

I resigned from Anthropic today. I spent the last three years doing pretraining research at both OpenAI and Anthropic. Neither company is acting responsibly. They are racing straight to self-improving superintelligence and gambling with our lives. More thoughts below.

Jacob is correct here—we really do earnestly believe AI could kill all humans! I personally think it is >10% within the next decade. I believe Anthropic is trying its best, but we do not yet have a plan to solve alignment for superintelligence and are not clearly on track to.
Replying to @hilbertspaess
The people building AI earnestly believe that it could kill us all by the end of the decade. This is not a marketing stunt. If anything, many executives and senior researchers will couch their phrasing in the press to sound sensible - but I hear the same people express fear privately. No other human activity poses this level of danger.

Manchester Airport has suffered a cyber attack and customer data has been stolen. Given their reputation for “outrageous” £100 parking charges and fines, surely affected customers deserve an equally outrageous level of compensation? 😂 Just a thought… #ManchesterAirport #DataBreach #Compensation

Within minutes of posting about the Manchester Airport cyber attack, I received the notification myself. Email, phone number, vehicle registration and postcode may not sound highly sensitive individually. Together, they can be very useful to an attacker. Now watch for the follow-up phishing. 🔐 #CyberSecurity #DataBreach
Manchester Airport cyber attack: customer data stolen. Names, emails, phone numbers, vehicle registrations and postcodes might not sound like “crown jewel” data. But put them together and they become valuable fuel for phishing, impersonation and social engineering. Attackers don’t always need your secrets. Sometimes, they just need enough pieces to make the next attack believable. 🔐 Sky News report news.sky.com/story/customer-… #CyberSecurity #DataBreach #CyberAwareness
