The State Water Project supplies water to 2/3 of California's population. The Delta Conveyance Project would modernize the State Water Project in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta to help protect against earthquakes, climate change, and sea level rise.

The Delta Conveyance Project would modernize the State Water Project’s infrastructure to better adapt to the briefer wetter wet period and longer, drier dry periods anticipated with a changing climate to minimize those losses in supply and bolster reliability after earthquakes. Calleguas wholeheartedly supports Governor Newsom’s proposed historic action to bolster the reliability of the State Water Project by providing commonsense clarifications to existing law to ensure the Delta Conveyance Project is able to move forward, saving the state and public water agencies like Calleguas significant time and cost.
Did You Know...
💧Under normal conditions, 100% of Calleguas’s water comes from the State Water Project.
💧Without modernization of State Water Project infrastructure, climate change is expected to reduce those supplies by an average of 13-22%.
💧The supply is also at severe risk of loss due to earthquakes, which could disrupt deliveries to Southern California for up to several years.
💧If the Delta Conveyance Project had been in place during the 2021-2022 drought, extreme water restrictions in the Calleguas service area likely could have been avoided.
