Well, no surprise there. A government committed to weapons of mass murder will want to maintain and develop the nuclear skills base.
Following yesterday’s debate in Parliament, I’ve written in @TheScotsman on why it’s time for the SNP to modernise their stance on nuclear energy.
Their ban is not in Scotland’s interests. We stand ready to work with Scottish Govt to bring new jobs and investment to Scotland.

The power we are searching for is the power to stop Scotland being the launch pad for the UK's monstrous weapons of mass destruction, the power to end complicity in genocide, the power to (list continues). Anything else amounts to a con.

ALT Tweet today from Melanie Ward MP: "I spoke to @bbc5live about the speech that Andy Burnham will be making in Lanarkshire today. He’ll invite John Swinney and the Scottish Government to work with us to push power out of Holyrood and Westminster, and closer to people. We can work together on a new shared mission."

Nuclear weapons remain amongst the foremost threats to humanity, according to the Lancet's recent report on global risks.
Despite a reduction in global stockpiles since the Cold War, there are STILL more than enough nuclear weapons to end humanity by triggering nuclear winter.

There's a type of NGO in Europe - new-ish, elite origin, entirely or mostly government-funded, does mainly communications/discourse stuff - that reacts to current funding cuts with indignation and an immense sense of entitlement, of the centrality of their work to our democracy.

The Review of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty is ongoing. Along with the other nuclear-armed states the UK is utterly cynical, claiming the Treaty as the" cornerstone" of disarmament, but blatantly in breach of Articles 1 and V1. Crisp analysis here: icanw.org/the_cornerstone_re…
