🎓Every UK college and university should be ELCAS approved by default. Right now, colleges and universities have to apply separately to ELCAS (the MOD’s Enhanced Learning Credits scheme) to become approved providers. They submit course details, go through assessment, and only then can veterans and serving personnel use their ELC funding (up to £1k–£2k a year, covering ~80% of fees for Level 3+ courses) there. Many already do it successfully, but it’s optional and creates a patchy system. Second Service UK says make it automatic. All publicly funded colleges and universities should be required to register as ELCAS providers. The framework already exists. The process just needs to become standard policy, not something institutions can choose to ignore. Those who serve shouldn’t face extra barriers when they want to study or retrain. 💂Second Service UK is growing - join the fight to protect veterans and message us today !

Official Second Service UK Announcement 🇬🇧 Second Service UK × Newcastle Veterans Hub 🎖️ Today, Second Service UK is announcing that we will be working closely with Newcastle Veterans Hub. Strengthening the bonds between local veteran and Armed Forces support groups is exactly what we aim to achieve. 🤝 For both organisations, this means sharing knowledge, experience and insight, creating stronger links between those already working to support veterans. For Second Service UK, it also means gaining a greater understanding of how current policies, pacts and legislation are affecting veterans and the Armed Forces. That insight is vital to achieving our wider goal.

🇬🇧 THIS IS SECOND SERVICE UK. A new political movement for Veterans. A movement created to advocate for the Armed Forces and those who have served. For too long, serving personnel and veterans have been expected to bite their tongues. 🤐 Accept the problems. 🤐 Accept the decline. 🤐 Quietly get on with it. We say enough❗️ 🪖 We want to harness their experience. ❤️‍🔥 Harness their passion. 🫡 Harness their sense of duty. And put it back to work. Not on the parade square. In politics. We want veterans to help write policy, challenge political parties, build networks and push for reform. Because those who have served deserve a voice in the decisions that shape their service. 🇬🇧 SECOND SERVICE UK Defending those who defend Great Britain. Share this with a passionate veteran ⏩
