You did it!!! 397,291 signatures are being submitted — right now — to qualify Second Chances for the November ballot. Arizona voters are ready. Thank you to every person who signed, volunteered and helped us spread the word.
Some of you may have heard that the measure was removed from the ballot last week. We believe valid petition signatures were disqualified. We are in the process of challenging removal of those signatures & feel confident we will be on November's ballot. Stay tuned for updates!

Five weeks ago, the @SecondChancesAz initiative qualified for the ballot. A court ruled on this past Friday that "Arizonans are entitled to vote in November on a measure to give judges more discretion in imposing sentences on criminals," reports @azcapmedia in @AzCapitolTimes.

@SecondChancesAz is filing its signatures with the secretary of state. Campaign spokeswoman tells me they're filing 397,291. They need 237,645 valid signatures to qualify for the November ballot.
The Second Chances, Rehabilitation, and Public Safety Act is a statewide ballot initiative which will increase public safety, reduce recidivism, and save taxpayers money.
It is built on the premise that most important goal of our corrections system is public safety, and to achieve that, our system must work to rehabilitate people who are working to improve themselves and stop the cycle of crime.
