Google Cloud’s europe-west2 seems to be experiencing some issues. A good reminder to build for multi-region resilience.
Multiple banks (Lloyds, Revolut, Bank of Scotland and HSBC) are down for some users. This looks like a Google Cloud issue. Importantly, your money in Revolut will be safe - this clearly isn't a hack on them and the issue lies with a third party. downdetector.co.uk

And Brandon is absolutely right. The video game industry is the only one lying about not using AI. But I’ve come across so many people with this mindset of “Wait, that uses AI? Then I’m not using it.” Dude, pretty much all software today is built with AI. Apps, websites, games… everything. The sooner you accept it, the less frustrated you’ll be. Also, the whole AI = less value argument makes no sense. Do we say a tomato grown on land plowed with tractors is worth less than one grown on land plowed by hand? At the end of the day, what matters is the final product.
Brandon Stirrup, who says he has spent more than 10 years at Xbox and Microsoft, is calling out the gaming industry for pretending it isn’t using AI. “If I’m Fired Tomorrow It Will Be Because I Told You The Truth That Nobody Wants You To Know” He says gaming is “the only industry pretending to not use AI” and that developers need to accept AI as part of the future. He also claims that games can already be created with simple prompts, including custom games tailored to what players want. Stirrup says he’s willing to take the backlash for speaking openly about it, even saying he could be fired for telling people what “nobody wants you to know.” “We use AI, just as all companies do in 2026.”

Want to make your app faster? Ask your agent these 5 things: 🗄️ Find slow database queries and N+1 problems. 🔄 Optimize API requests, caching, and data fetching. 🖼️ Compress images and optimize fonts and scripts. ⚡ Detect and eliminate unnecessary re-renders. 📦 Reduce bundle size with lazy loading and code splitting.

From an engineering and design perspective, it's absolutely mind-blowing. But genuine question: what's the actual use case for this?
Real life, baby

Can we finally say that AI writes better code than 99% of developers?

- Most people barely use AI, let alone build software with it. - A $20 subscription won’t get you very far when building software. -Replicating mature software like Adobe’s products isn’t something you can do in an afternoon. It takes a lot of time, polishing, and tokens.
It's not about making money People don't get it People pay $20/mo to Anthropic or ChatGPT so it helps them with their daily activities Instead of $20/mo to Adobe + $20/mo Canva + $20/mo to Microsoft 365 + $20/mo to Grammarly + $20/mo to Squarespace etc.

I see a lot of people overlooking Haiku and underestimating what it can do Used for the right tasks, it can save you a ton of tokens without sacrificing quality
Introducing Claude Haiku 5.5: the cheapest, fastest, and most capable small model we’ve ever released. On average, it costs around 75% less to run than Claude Haiku 4.5.

I’ll never understand announcing supposedly frontier models and then not releasing them. It just feels like smoke
Introducing Gemini 4 Argon, our new frontier model, rolling out to cyber defenders starting today, and more widely as soon as possible. I am really excited by the progress we have made here. Argon is priced at $2 in and $10 out during introductory pricing!
