Shoutout to our @datascience_uw postdocs Alex Held @alheld_ & Matthew Feickert @HEPfeickert who work at the intersection of data science and high energy particle physics. Both are @iris_hep leaders engaged with #scikithep, @PyHEPConf & @SciPyConf. #NationalPostdocAppreciationWeek

No wonder my life is littered with so many unfinished projects!
Joseph Scrimshaw@JosephScrimshaw20 Sep 2022
WRITING ADVICE: If you’re having a hard time getting started on a project, simply start a second project, get it to a critical point, then use the original project to procrastinate work on the second now more stressful project. Repeat as needed until the universe disintegrates

Pretty much the definition of working in this field. What is extra fun is when you realize sometimes this is a reflexive property!

Today the @WhiteHouse announced that all federally funded research will be made openly available. Importantly, it eliminates the 12-month embargo. This is the result of decades of work by @SPARC_NA, @petersuber, @mbeisen, and so many more. #OpenAccess whitehouse.gov/ostp/news-upd…

The state's first LGBTQ-affirming affordable senior housing community, Pride Place, is being built in Seattle's Capitol Hill neighborhood. On its ground floor will be the GenPRIDE Center, a place to help create community for LGBTQ seniors. 🏳️‍🌈 1/2 📷 : GenPride

Driving 8 hours from Ottawa to Metuchen, NJ today, as part of move from France back to Seattle. European me is like - no one drives that long! Take a train! American me is like ehhh, no problem. That is a 2 Dr. Pepper trip at most.
