The growing wave of protests around the world reflects mounting anger against the capitalist system. Burdened by unemployment, soaring living costs, deepening inequality and economic insecurity, young people and ordinary citizens are rapidly losing faith in the institutions of capitalist democracy. Their illusions about capitalist governance are being shattered as they recognise that the system safeguards corporate profits and the wealth of a privileged minority while denying the majority dignity, security and even their most basic needs.
Currently, there are protests in France to fund education, in Spain to fund decent housing for all, and in Germany to oppose military expansion. People in Europe are waking up and realizing their governments serve capital and war, not people. Time for Americans to wake up too.

It’s because we tried every variant of acceptable British government (posh, Sensible Tories; Crooked patrio-bullshit Tories, and Sensible Moderate Centrists) and all of them have failed to improve matters, and the public are correctly furious with all of them. So: End Times.

PLEASE DONT LOSE YOURSELF TO CLIMATE DESPAIR. To feel that deeply for the planet we call home is beautiful. It means you’re a kind, caring, empathetic person w/a deep well of love for life. We need you in the fight for the future. I know things seem bleak & the UN saying we have passed the point of no return was a gut punch. Feel that emotion & get angry. Stay active. YOU ARE NOT ALONE. Climate change is real. Climate grief is real. Don’t lay down your sword when the battle gets intense. Fight.

This summer Britain burnt. 3000 people died from the heat. Yet this Government is drilling for more gas, despite scientist warnings & knowing that it won't make a difference to bills in the UK. We need to double down on renewables, not bend to the wishes of fossil fuel bosses.

The hardest part is trying to hold two feelings at once: grief for what we’re losing and hope that we can still change the outcome. We shouldn’t have to spend our lives pre-mourning a future that isn’t inevitable.

By-elections are won on turnout. Turnout comes from the ground game. The Greens have that ground game. We need to go all in. Greens across London should head to Holborn & St Pancras. Bring every activist we can, every weekend, and knock on every doorstep. This is how we win.

Personally I welcome this news and believe Zack will be an excellent candidate. Unfortunately I am not in a position to stand this time round. The Camden Peoples Alliance, the community group created out of my campaign against Starmer, will meet next week to formally decide our position. This is a crucial time for progressives in Camden and across the country to be united.

Keir Starmer is a classic example of why people hate politicians - he misled his way to the top, took freebies from political donors, punched down and U-turned on repeat. His decision to quit Parliament so quickly is a reminder he was only ever interested in power and ambition. My piece for @zeteouk zeteo.uk/p/keir-starmer-is-w…

I hate him because he's a constant liar, his government has sent weapons to Israel, tried to cut disability benefits, I could go on
People who hate Starmer don't know why, it's hilarious 😂

Stepping down ASAP as an MP after being hailed as a man of pure selfless dedication to duty and service is at least quite funny, I think. One last great fuck you to everyone who ever carried water for him, which is a lot of people.

One of two things will happen with AI: 1) it will work as advertised and put millions of people out of work 2) it won't work, but we'll have invested so much into it that this will crash the economy, putting millions of people out of work

It’s absolutely devastating, sickening and heart-rending watching interviews with people with missing family members in Nepal. There’s going to be far more deaths because of climate change - soon here too. We cannot allow this insane situation any longer. There should be mass protests in Downing St in the hope they will spread across the world.

Nepal is not the only place suffering catastrophic floods and landslides Chile Peru and Bolivia suffering devastating climate change
Catastrophic floods, snow and mudslides have struck the Andes region, with Chile, Peru and Bolivia all badly hit. Peru's president has declared a state of emergency as experts warn that up to 1.2 million people could be affected. Al Jazeera's @lucianewman reports.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The video includes recycled 2017 Peru flood footage. Recent localized rains caused limited mudslides/flooding in parts of the region; no catastrophic Andes disaster or new Peru presidential weather emergency occurred, and the 1.2M figure refers to future El Niño risks. reuters.com/business/envir… expreso.ec/internacional/… cnn.com/2017/03/17/ame… larepublica.pe/sociedad/2026/…

The experience of month after month seeing news stories about the climate crisis which show it’s worse than we thought, oh no even worse than that, wait worse than that , actually worse than that. I’m fucking exhausted by this dumb psychopathic system destroying us all.
El Niño is about to shift into a higher gear. By early October, ECMWF weekly guidance shows sea temperatures surging to a remarkable 5.64°C above average in the eastern Pacific (Niño 1+2) and 3.55°C in the central Pacific (Niño 3.4). Both would be all-time records.

Whenever any politician talks about Economic Growth they always need to be asked ‘Growth for who’. And when they say ‘everyone’ call them out on the bullshit.

Despite any flaws the Green Party may I have I’m very glad we have a mainstream party actually understanding how insanely important the climate crisis is.
