SCOOP: The CFTC is under a federal probe for its low staffing & fraud enforcement, per a letter obtained by @NPR. In 2025, the prediction market / crypto regulator saw a 20% drop in staffing and 80% fall in enforcement action. @ewarren requested the GAO investigation. ⬇️

Last week some of South Korea's biggest banks were hit by a cyberattack. Thanks to a report from CrowdStrike tonight, we now know the entire hack may have been done by a single person. He used a combined stack of an open-source AI penetration tool named ARTEX, DeepSeek v4.1-Flash, GLM-5.3, Grok 4.6, and Claude Code.

Longwell is lying. Here is the empirical data.
Sarah Longwell: My problem with the DSA types who are after us is not their political ideology or their opinions. Their analysis doesn't make any sense. There's not a single piece of empirical data that the Liz Cheney stuff mattered. I know people want to be mad and I think it is very strange 5 weeks out from an election for people to be focused on me. But I guess people have decided I'm a big enough deal that they want to come after me and that's their prerogative. I think I'm a weird target. But have at it, I guess.

We cannot allow America to become a surveillance state where AI oligarchs profit by giving the government the power to track our every movement. That is why @AOC, @JeffMerkley and I are introducing the BAN FLOCK Act to block federal funding for automatic license plate readers.

Extraordinary federal order to suppress evidence because a Flock search implicates the 4th Amendment, calling it "a large-scale, dragnet-type surveillance system" & "every vehicle was being indiscriminately tracked until law enforcement needed information" storage.courtlistener.com/re…

BREAKING: Bernie Sanders, AOC, and Jeff Merkley are introducing the Ban Flock Act. This bill would effectively put an end to AI surveillance cameras that track Americans. The Ban Flock Act would prohibit federal agencies from using automatic license plate readers (ALPRs) and block federal funding from state and local governments that use this technology, making it untenable for these AI surveillance cameras to continue proliferating across the country.

Going to the doctor? Flock knows. Dropping your kid off at school? Flock is tracking you. Big Tech oligarchs are funding over 100,000 AI–powered Flock surveillance cameras to track Americans’ every move. Ban Flock NOW.

New from me: What do Never Trump Republicans want and are they experts at defeating the GOP they helped create? We don't have to speculate. They've already said it - they want neocons to take over the Dem Party & they don't want blame when Dems adopt their agenda & then lose.

A ProPublica investigation published September 22 found that the Department of Justice’s public corruption unit, just before it was gutted by President Donald Trump, was circling Maine Republican Senator Susan Collins after her campaign solicited illegal contributions from a Hawaii-based defense contractor. The company, Navatek, sent $150,000 to Collins’ super PAC through a shell company-amusingly named Society of Young Scientist and Engineers LLC-in exchange for $32 million in federal contracts funneled to the company shortly after. Collins appears to have been aware of and directly involved in the scheme: “Seven days after the super PAC cashed the check from [Martin] Kao's shell company, one of [Scott] Reed's subordinates emailed a Navatek lobbyist asking for Kao's phone number: ‘Senator Collins would like to call Martin to thank him,’” ProPublica wrote. The article also included a picture of the check sent to the super PAC and emails discussing the scheme to conceal the donation. Nevertheless, the Collins campaign said the allegations had already been investigated and there was no crime. Drop Site’s @JulianAndreone went up to Capitol Hill to ask senators whether this reporting about their colleague’s corruption concerned them.

thrilled to announce we have built the “trick old people into handing over their bank passwords machine” from the classic sci-fi horror novel “don’t build the trick old people into handing over their bank passwords machine”
Introducing Griffin, the first model to pass the video Turing test. 48% of people who talked to it live thought it was a real human. Previous systems have had a pass rate <3%. It is #1 on NVIDIA's benchmark for full-duplex AI video. It’s the first Human Interaction Model (HIM).
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The 48% figure and "video Turing test" claim are from Tavus's own study of 54 one-minute calls, not independently verified or using a standard protocol. Griffin-Lite leads NVIDIA's VideoFDB benchmark on their public leaderboard. cellcog.ai/blog/tavus-gri… research.nvidia.com/labs/amri/proj… tech-ish.com/2026/10/02/tav…

I think it's worth emphasizing that Dems have unified control over every branch of government in California. Unlike the Dem minoirty Congress, our state officials can legally compel OpenAI to provide information about these incidents.
Outrageous. OpenAI has reportedly fired three safety researchers for sharing information with an outside AI safety group. This looks like they're firing whistleblowers. What are they hiding? I'll be sending OpenAI a demand for transparency.

In the House passed version of the Clarity Act and the version subject to the Senate cloture vote, nothing in the legislative text would’ve prohibited this. (ie, POTUS attendance at memecoin promotional dinners was allowed)

Ossoff is impressive in extremely controlled media environments - arena speeches, Senate hearings, friendly MSNBC studio interviews, etc. I've been waiting to see him in more off-the-cuff situations. This is the first time I've seen it. Him fleeing Julian is...different.
I asked Sen. Jon Ossoff a question from his constituent Andres Carrillo today: Does he regret voting for the Laken Riley Act, which suspends due process and legalizes racial profiling? What’s he doing to help victimized communities in Georgia?
