A route change on my way to Bright Angel has led me through an unexpectedly diverse geological playground, Neretva Vallis! This ancient river channel – which carried most of the water that flowed into Jezero Crater billions of years ago – is filled with intriguing boulders.

ALT This color image taken by Mastcam-Z on NASA's Perseverance Mars Rover shows a very noticeable light-toned boulder with dark speckles in a field of darker ones. Some on the science team speculate that the boulder's minerals were produced in a nearby subsurface magma sea that then bubbled to the surface where they cooled and solidified. Others consider the possibility that it could have been created far beyond the walls of Jezero and transported there by the swift Martian waters that flowed through this channel eons ago. Either way, the team believes this boulder is the first of its kind they’ve seen and won’t be the last as the rover travels further along the crater rim.

G4 (Severe) Levels Reached! If you have clear skies tonight, look for the aurora where it may be visible.

Absolutely mesmerizing view of "gravity waves" propagating along the "tropopause," or effective ceiling of the lower atmosphere, following the eruption of #HungaTonga this morning.
The waves result from the plume's buoyancy bumping against the tropopause and causing ripples.
Fascinating to view today's pressure plots from around the world! Took 4.25 hrs for atmospheric wave to travel 3030 miles from Tonga Eruption to Hawaii. Computed speed approx 713 mph #TongaVolcano #pressure
Pressure wave hit my own sensor in Seattle WA area at 12:30 UTC about 8.25 hours after Eruption. Distance was 5720 miles from epicenter so wave was still moving at about 693 mph!
The atmospheric pressure pulse from the #TongaVolcanoEruption is likely an acoustic-gravity wave and incredibly just hit #Seattle again. The first pulse arrived from the West and the second must have arrived from the East - both at ~ 700 mph.
Mesmerized by this footage of the Fagradalsfjall #volcano eruption in Iceland youtu.be/7UKtY3zp4sA

It doesn't matter what party you belong to. We can't have somebody willfully lying to the people be our president.
Scientific American has never endorsed a presidential candidate in our 175-year history—until now.
The 2020 election is literally a matter of life and death. We urge you to vote for health, science and Joe Biden for President.

There is no national security issue with TikTok - Trump is attempting to censor the voice of Americans on a platform critical of him, plain and simple. Protect the first amendment and vote him out.
