#WhyArchives ? They're a great way of seeing change over time, as in these four snapshots of our transport history. #Archive30

#WhyArchives, well they are unique. We preserve the stories of people and places of the past, but also the present, so that we can remember and learn from them in the future. No two days, enquiries or records are the same. #Archive30

The largest deposited #archivecollection we hold is the Dundee Harbour Trust Collection, most of which has been here since the 1970s. Not only does it contain dock arrivals but also plans, pilots licences, minutes, construction diaries and much more... Ref: GD/DH #Archive30

Generally we don't take in many objects, but we'll make exceptions for small items, particularly if they are part of a collection. This medal and dog tag belonged to David Kidd. We are lucky to have some of his letters sent home from France in WW1. #ArchiveObject #Archive30 1/2

Hey @moragduncan Here's a picture of Brian and me, taken outside our Rose St shop in the early '70s. A few others of me in 1969 just as we were opening it. Check the round sign outside the shop. We had to change it as it kept getting knocked down by Boots trucks mounting pavement
#ArchiveEmporium brings music to our ears. 🎼 Brian & Bruce Findlay with an "I Found It At Bruce's" carrier bag pictured outside their record shop on Rose St. Edinburgh in 1969 & 1972. ow.ly/xL9250LReNN
