The Minnesota Wild and local team reporters are proud to announce the Jessi Pierce Media Beauty Award, honoring the memory of Jessi Pierce and her three children, Hudson, Cayden, and Avery.
The annual award celebrates the warmth, generosity and spirit Jessi brought to the rink and recognizes the Wild player who best exemplifies professionalism, accessibility and respect in their interactions with local media. The award recipient will be selected by a vote of local media.

I have tracked an astounding amount of microstats since 2020 and from an event level perspective, almost nothing correlates to "better defensive results" .
Defenders who aren't involved at the defensive blueline tend to have worse results but even then...
Jeff Blashill is not a fan of the current state of NHL defensive analytics.
"I've yet to see a single defensive analytic that's really reflective of how good a player is defensively without a while-on-ice stat. Trust me when I tell you I've seen a lot of them and we dig into them, so I would just encourage everybody to make sure you trust the stat before we use the stat... Just beacuse somebody puts it out there doesn't mean it measures what it's supposed to measure and it's accurate."
That being said, defensemen who lose battles on the walls, lose track of players in the crease or turn the puck over a ton often are ones NHL teams value, especially in the context of the draft because size correlates to toughness which correlates to some.

John and Christina Mayich have two requests.
First, they want the world to learn more about their son, Matthew.
Second, no matter where you are from or what faith you follow, say a prayer for him

15 years ago today, members of the KHL’s Lokomotiv Yaroslavl hockey team tragically lost their lives in a plane crash.
Among those who passed away were former NHLers Pavol Demitra, Igor Korolev, Josef Vasicek, Ruslan Salei, Brad McCrimmon, Karel Rachunek, and Alexander Vasyunov.
Gone but never forgotten. 🕊️
Huge. More of this please.
