The reason the lesbian bar story is taking off so much is that every single person in left-of-center spaces has had to deal with people like this performatively harassing and boxing out anyone who dares to go back to normal life since the pandemic ended.
There's a certain type of leftist who saw everyone having to isolate and mask as the revolution they waited their whole lives for, and anyone who is not prepared to build the new world order around that is the enemy.
That’s a pro-death position, no matter how you slice it.

Imagine telling someone in 1999…
The year is 2026.
The President is Donald Trump in his second non consecutive term.
The richest man in the world is PayPal cofounder Elon Musk… but not because of fintech or Paypal. Because of rockets, electric cars, AI, satellites, brain chips and something called “Boring Company”.
Apple is worth trillions but its main business isn’t computers… its selling glass rectangles everyone stares at for 9 hours a day.
People don’t watch TV. They watch teenagers explain geopolitics, finance, and relationship advice in ~60 second videos.
The biggest taxi company owns no taxis.
The biggest hotel company owns no hotels.
The most powerful media companies are social networks where everyone argues with strangers for free.
Kids are making millions filming themselves playing video games.
AI Robots write emails, code, legal memos, songs, essays, and breakup texts.
The internet is mostly bots arguing with humans who are trying to prove they aren’t bots.
You can summon a car, groceries, a doctor, a date, a private jet, or a dog walker from your phone.
People pay real money for invisible currencies, digital monkeys, AI girlfriends and pictures that disappear after 24 hours.
The richest companies in the world don’t sell oil, steel, or cars. They sell attention, compute, data, and addiction.
And somehow, after all of that everyone is still using Excel.

Twenty years ago we invaded Iraq. The war killed many innocent Iraqis and Americans. It destroyed the oldest Christian populations in the world. It cost over $1 trillion, and turned Iraq into a satellite of Iran. It was an unforced disaster, and I pray that we learn its lessons.

This video captures exactly why our shared reality is breaking.
Andrew hesitates because he knows he lacks context, Nick insists that hesitation itself is a weakness and that any gut reaction should be defended on sight.
Thie exchange explains a lot about the post-fact world we are stuck in. Claims get loyalty before they get scrutiny, confidence substitutes for understanding, and humility gets framed as fear.
When people are trained to lock in early and fight forever, learning becomes some sort of betrayal.
The result is simply a noise that sounds like certainty and a public square where nobody backs off long enough to find out if they were wrong.

This is only possible because the port of Long Beach isn’t under the control of the International Longshoreman’s Association.

I think that in <10 years we'll see screen time the same way we do food now. It will be a status symbol of the elite to consume less, and of a higher quality, while the poor gorge themselves on cheetos and ai-generated shortform vertical video

this photo of the guy who wrote the vanity fair article valorizing cormac mccarthy’s pedophilia is a wonderful visual aid to pair with the displeasure of reading the piece
Exclusive: Augusta Britt is one of the most significant—and secret—inspirations in literary history, giving life to dozens of Cormac McCarthy’s characters across his celebrated novels and Hollywood films.
For 47 years, Britt closely guarded her identity and her story—until now.

It should come as no great surprise that a Democratic Party which has abandoned working class people would find that the working class has abandoned them.
While the Democratic leadership defends the status quo, the American people are angry and want change.
And they’re right.

You can cheat in the national election, but not at a scale enough to swing the Presidential election.
You would need to get 13,000 watermarked ballots (!!!) AND 13,000 fake or stolen drivers licenses/voter ID (!!!) to swing in the tightest race — Georgia.
Please, some criminal mastermind please explain to us how you would do this on Tuesday — especially given the amount of scrutiny on the swing states!
It is IMPOSSIBLE to "steal" the Presidential election by cheating.
You *MIGHT* be able to steal a very local election, but you would almost certainly get caught. Put this aside for a moment and let's talk about Tuesday's Presidential race.
Here's some basic logic and math:
1/We have 50 different states, each with its own process. You can cheat in every state, sure, but you can't do it at a scale that tips even the tightest swing state.

I installed a box high up on a pole somewhere in the Mission. Inside is a crappy Android phone, set to Shazam constantly, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It's solar powered, and the mic is pointed down at the street below walzr.com/bop-spotter
