🚨BREAKING: President Trump has signed the papers making Marco Rubio the official national security adviser.
Rubio has been doing the job on an acting basis since May 2025, after Michael Waltz left. He already is secretary of state. Now both titles are permanent.
He is only the second person in U.S. history to hold those two posts at the same time. Henry Kissinger did it in the 1970s.
Rubio will keep running the State Department and the National Security Council. He stays the direct line to the president on war, intel, and diplomacy.

5 years ago today, an ISIS-K terrorist detonated a suicide bomb at Abbey Gate, killing 13 American servicemembers in the deadliest day for U.S. forces in Afghanistan in over a decade.
The botched withdrawal was the direct result of the Biden-Harris administration’s failure to adequately prepare for the operation while ignoring the warning signs that left our troops exposed.
Since then, Republicans have worked tirelessly to rebuild American deterrence and restore the United States as the world's preeminent fighting force.
