Great to see support from Scotland's largest business organisation for Heathrow expansion.
@ScotChambers see Heathrow as Scotland’s “primary gateway” to long-haul international markets, playing a "key role" in:
🌎 supporting exports globally
🤝 increasing job opportunities
💷 attracting investment
🏆 and strengthening the competitiveness of the Scottish economy
Heathrow works with 39 supply-chain partners in Scotland.
30 of which are SMEs.

Heathrow has today announced that expansion is set to unlock over 100,000 jobs in every nation and region of the UK, cementing its position as the country’s most important growth project . Expansion will create jobs, boost skills and unlock billions of pounds in additional private investment across UK supply chains.
The new jobs figures come as the Government's consultation on the draft Heathrow Expansion National Policy Statement closes and the Transport Committee holds its opening inquiry evidence sessions.
💷 100% privately financed, expansion will deliver more choice, better value, and greater global reach for passengers, airlines and exporters
🏗️ Industries throughout the country stand to benefit from a third runway, spanning the likes of construction, engineering and all-important apprenticeship opportunities for young people
As the UK’s only hub airport and largest port by value, Heathrow enables the country’s products and services to reach global markets and attracts inward investment and visitors to every part of the country. With Heathrow currently full, the UK’s competitiveness is being hindered.
Once operational, a third runway will:
📈 Add 50% more capacity will introduce greater competition and choice, making travel more affordable for passengers
🛫 Increase capacity for up to 756,000 flights and 150 million passengers every year, and delivery of brand-new terminal facilities
Thomas Woldbye, Heathrow’s CEO said, “We want to support the Government’s ambition to deliver ‘good growth in every postcode’ and unlock what’s been holding this country back, including finally clearing the path for Heathrow expansion to take off.
We are ready to show that private investment can work alongside government to revitalise British industry and create long-lasting, high-quality jobs and opportunities for people across the country.”
Scotland has no shortage of opportunities, but businesses need the right conditions to seize them.
Our Programme for Government priorities:
• Cut business costs
• Speed up infrastructure delivery
• Tackle skills shortages
