We have started a YouTube channel, we will be highlighting fun places to scoot in the city...youtube.com/@scootingtoronto

City of Toronto will have to come up with a solution to this...if owners have certified bikes this shouldn't be a problem...very easy to register the bike, and give evidence that it is certified...

I gotta wonder though...can this be sidestepped by just having an e-bike with a removal battery?
An e-bike without a battery is just a bike (not banned)
A battery without an e-bike is just a batter (also not banned)

What are we going to do about this #topoli? People won’t be able to get to work and will have to sell their condos because the condo board doesn’t want to check for battery certification on their e-bikes…
Metrolinx figured this out years ago - the city hasn’t.
A Toronto condo can prohibit residents from keeping e-bikes inside their own units as part of a ban aimed at addressing fire safety concerns. torontotoday.ca:443/local/cr…
We always kinda knew that #biketo efforts to ban e-scooters would backfire. Now the ban hammer is coming for the e-bikes.
Karma…
Just heard about a condo in Toronto that is banning e-bikes, e-scooters and other electric mobility devices in all residential and common areas. No parking, storage or charging.
This should be illegal in Toronto.
What is @CycleToronto doing about this?
#topoli
It’s kinda funny that the guy behind most of the e-scooter hate in Toronto is also vehemently against scramble intersections…
The city is going to have to come up with a plan here. This could hurt a lot of people who rely on these devices to get to work…
@TheBikingLawyer do you have any advice on this?
Replying to @georgebell @CycleToronto
Owners in my building are petitioning the condo corp to ban E bikes and Escooters after hearing the fire chief’s dire warnings.
Imagine thinking this is helping accessibility. Lots of people can’t ride bikes David and scooters work for them. You don’t speak for everyone on this.
Hey @ElectAshan As candidate for Scarborough-Rouge Park, will you make the Municipal Disability Accessibility Pledge: No e-scooters! No scramble intersections! No bike paths on the sidewalk! Email us [email protected] #accessibility #Topoli aodaalliance.org/whats-new/m…
We have an idea of what Toronto could do to speed things up....
Toronto streetcars average just 10.7 km/h.
That's slower than a typical runner or cyclist – and less than half the speed of a Lime e-scooter in most cities.
The problem isn't the streetcar network. It's how we operate it.
Toronto can do better.
It’s your city. Make your voice heard. Pledge to vote, Toronto: buildcanada.com/toronto/vote…

CP24 needs to be careful about this...it seems very likely this was a dooring...not a random scooter hitting a vehicle's door...
A 60-year-old e-scooter rider has died days after crashing into a parked vehicle in North York early Sunday morning.

TPS isn’t making any friends here. The lack of a scooter pilot in Toronto has pitted mobility device users against TPS unnecessarily. But the least they could do is use neutral language when talking about doorings…this is basic stuff that the cycling community has been dealing with for years…

If cars can shut down danforth for a day. Surely bikes can shutdown Bloor for a day…

How about this emissions free electric scooter Mayor?
"That sounds like a great thing to BAN"

What is the reasoning behind banning them as opposed to requiring appropriate safety gear and requiring them to follow the same rules as e-bikes?
Replying to @cityoftoronto
Let e-scooters use bike lanes. If e-bike is allowed, why not e-scooters?

Typical. Everyone wants and expects us to be more environmentally conscious.. Use less gas, build 15 min communities, but then restrict how we can get around.. You CAN use those in Edmonton, IF YOU USE the ones the city gets a cut of.
So dumb.
Stop babysitting people, go to work

this is the new face of transportation, instead of banning them, adapt and find a way for people to use them safely. Especially when the cost of owning a car is increasingly expensive and bad for the environment. Especially when you also will not fund transit

These are wonderful Green affordable vehicles that reduce traffic congestion too
TO needs to find a way to adopt them safely

Why is an e-bike any different? Just grow up and let people ride em? it’s not like there is enough roadway for bikes 🚲 and 🏍️ anyway.
