A variant of SARS-COVID2 virus has shown 100% lethality in mice genetically modified to mimic human response to viruses. Unlike the original COVID2 virus, this variant affects the brain. Quantum circuit for the fast Fourier transform sciencecast.org/casts/2scj0r… We propose an implementation of the algorithm for the fast Fourier transform (FFT) as a quantum circuit consisting of a combination of some quantum gates. In our implementation, a data sequence is expressed by a tensor product of vector spaces. Namely, our FFT is defined as a transformation of the tensor product of quantum states. It is essentially different from the so-called quantum Fourier transform (QFT) defined to be a linear transformation of the amplitudes for the superposition of quantum states.

TensorFlow Chaotic Prediction and Blow Up sciencecast.org/casts/cpfybk… Predicting the dynamics of chaotic systems is one of the most challenging tasks for neural networks, and machine learning in general. Here we aim to predict the spatiotemporal chaotic dynamics of a high-dimensional non-linear system. In our attempt we use the TensorFlow library, representing the state of the art for deep neural networks training and prediction.

Emergent representations in networks trained with the Forward-Forward algorithm @emaballarin The Backpropagation algorithm, widely used to train neural networks, has often been criticised for its lack of biological realism. In an attempt to find a more biologically plausible alternative, and avoid to back-propagate gradients in favour of using local learning rules, the recently introduced Forward-Forward algorithm replaces the traditional forward and backward passes of Backpropagation with two forward passes. sciencecast.org/casts/sgr32x…

Absence of Weak Localization on Negative Curvature Surfaces .@jbcurtis2 sciencecast.org/casts/ur57f6… The interplay between disorder and quantum interference leads to a wide variety of physical phenomena including celebrated Anderson localization -- the complete absence of diffusive transport due to quantum interference between different particle trajectories.

Field-level inference of galaxy intrinsic alignment from the SDSS-III BOSS survey .@MinhNguyenAstro sciencecast.org/casts/rbncov… As a large-scale overdensity collapses, it affects the orientation and shape of galaxies that form, by exerting tidal shear along their axes. Therefore, the shapes of elliptical galaxies align with the tidal field of cosmic structures. This intrinsic alignment provides insights into galaxy formation and the primordial universe, complements late-time cosmological probes and constitutes a significant systematic effect for weak gravitational lensing observations.
