Suomi on maksanut miljardeja euroja siitä, ettei Venäjän muodostamia geopoliittisia riskejä otettu ajoissa vakavasti.
Fortumin Uniper-kaupoissa menetettiin lähes kuusi miljardia euroa. Nyt Venäjän valtiollinen Rosatom väittää voittaneensa Fennovoimaa vastaan käydyn välimiesmenettelyn Hanhikiven ydinvoimalahankkeesta. Lopullinen ratkaisu ja mahdolliset korvaukset ovat vielä epäselviä.
Nämä eivät ole enää mitään pieniä virhearvioita. Puhumme miljardiluokan menetyksistä, jotka ovat koituneet myös suomalaisten veronmaksajien vahingoksi.
Minusta näistä tapauksista pitäisi vihdoin oppia jotain olennaista. Geopolitiikkaa ja turvallisuuspolitiikkaa ei voi erottaa taloudellisesta päätöksenteosta. Venäjän aggressiivisuudesta varoitettiin vuosikausia, mutta liian usein taloudelliset intressit painoivat enemmän.
Suomella ei ole enää varaa päätöksentekoon, jossa maailmanpolitiikan realiteetit ymmärretään vasta siinä vaiheessa, kun miljardilasku on jo tullut maksettavaksi.
