Wish there were a 1000 ❤ I could give to this. He was the one that left this world too soon. If his parents, siblings, family or loved ones read this thread they will know he is still loved. His name will be in the books as a Maple #LeafsForever

The University of New Haven hockey community is mourning the loss of senior assistant captain Ryan O’Shea, who was killed after being struck by a wrong-way driver on I-91 South in North Haven while returning home from a game.
O’Shea was remembered as a true Charger whose personality, humor and love for his teammates made a lasting impact on everyone around him.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Ryan’s family, loved ones, teammates and the entire University of New Haven hockey community.
Rest in peace, Ryan. ❤️

Major General Wade Rutland, higher headquarters for units training at CFB Wainwright, confirmed that four Canadian Armed Forces members died and many others were injured in a rapidly spreading grass fire during a training exercise by 3 PPCLI on October 17
“The Soldiers of the Canadian army suffered a terrible loss during a training activity at Canadian Forces Base Wainwright at approximately 4:00pm yesterday,” Rutland said. “During the conduct of a training, a grass fire ignited in the training area. The cause of this fire is under active investigation.”
The fallen, as named by Rutland:
Private Aiden Goulding, 3 PPCLI, North Vancouver, BC
Private Sean Farrell, 3 PPCLI, Prince Albert, SK
Private Hayden Leichmark, 3 PPCLI, Langley, BC
Sergeant Morgan Wong, Loyal Edmonton Regiment, Edmonton, AB
He noted multiple training activities were underway. “Uncommonly strong winds caused the fire to spread rapidly and shift direction towards the range administrative area. The fire did originate within the training area and did cross established fire guards before being contained in conjunction with municipal authorities.”Reports of explosions were addressed directly: “Certainly we do not believe this to be as a result of any oil and gas infrastructure nor any outside interference.”
“Unfortunately, I can confirm four Canadian Armed Forces members are deceased and many others injured. Casualties have been evacuated to a multitude of medical facilities to receive the best care our system has to offer.”
Rutland thanked medical personnel, first responders, STARS, air ambulance crews, and military aviation teams for their rapid response. The Canadian Forces National Investigation Service, 1st Military Police Regiment Incident Response Team, RCMP, and CAF Fire Marshal team members are investigating.
“Our top priority at this time is care of soldiers and families. At this time, we ask that families be respected during this very difficult time. Armed Forces is providing support to affected families through the chain of command, chaplain services and other available support resources.”
“Our thoughts are with the families and loved ones of those we lost and with the injured members still receiving care. We stand with the teammates, friends and units affected by this terrible tragedy. The well being of our people is our highest priority.”

@GOtransit may want to check on this driver, cuz I’ve never seen such dangerous merging and driving. Currently on the 401 exiting on Keele. @OPP_GTATraffic
We salute Shaun and the whole Farrell family.
You stand on guard for us so we can live this life.
May his soul be at Peace.
Patricia Farrell posted a statement about her son Shaun Farrell who’s life was lost in Wainwright.
🙏🙏 to all our brave men and women who were lost and those injured.
It is with heavy hearts that we share the news that our son, Shaun Farrell, has passed away to be with our Heavenly Father.
We want to thank everyone for your love, support, and prayers during this incredibly difficult time. As our family navigates this profound loss, we kindly ask for privacy so that we may grieve together.
Love you my darling child Shaun Farrell ❤️❤️❤️
Steal us a game Bob like you did for Florida time and time again. You stole our Rookies number, ruined his Rookie lap and haven’t gotten a win for us at home yet. You’ve been average at best. Step it the fuck up!
Sergei Bobrovsky says he feels he’s had a good start to the season and has been giving his best, even though things haven’t gone the team’s way
“I feel good. I try to give my best. There are lots of chances, lots of work. I try to give the team the best chance to win the game.
It doesn’t always go your way, but I’m chipping away, staying patient and getting ready for the next shot.”

From Oro Medonte Mayoral Candidate Cathy Keane
A PERSONAL UPDATE
Overnight, our family received the devastating news that our eldest son is among the military personnel critically injured in the incident in Wainwright, Alberta, on Saturday.
As a mother, right now I need to be with my son and family. I will be travelling to Alberta and unable to continue door-knocking for the remainder of the mayoral campaign. Please share the pinned post with my information with your neighbours, friends and your community.
I want residents to know that I am still in the race for Mayor of Oro-Medonte, and I stand by my commitment to our friends, families and neighbours more than ever. My belief in this community and the future we can build together has not changed.
For those who have not yet had the opportunity to speak with me or learn more about my platform, I am pinning copies of my campaign rack card and informational sheets to the top of my Facebook Page. I hope these materials will help residents understand my priorities and the commitments I have made to our township as online voting continues.
Right now, I ask for your understanding as our family navigates an incredibly difficult and uncertain time. We are grateful for the kindness and support of our friends and community.
Please hold your loved ones a little tighter tonight. ❤️

Elliotte Friedman mentioned on Saturday Headlines that the Leafs will only move prime assets if it means they are getting back a difference maker on the back end.
They would also consider getting younger on the blueline, moving an older guy to do so.
This is such horrible news. Our armed forces and their families need our prayers. May they have the strength to bare such a tragedy
An explosion and fire at Canadian Forces Base Wainwright east of Edmonton have resulted in an unknown number of fatalities and injuries, Federal Defence Minister David McGuinty says.
Asked if there has been any similar incident at a military base, the minister said, “I cannot recall an incident like this in recent memory.”

I like this for Auston the captain. This is what I expect a Captain to do. Be a bridge between the coaches and the other players.
But as a fan, when I saw Blankenburg and Sissons on during OT and no McKenna, that just gets to a whole different level of fucking annoyed
Auston Matthews on Gavin McKenna not having a shift after halfway through the second period:
“Those things kind of happen sometimes. I think everybody's been in that situation before, and it's not necessarily a situation you want to be in but we've all got his back… I know a game like tonight's gonna just make him hungry for the next one to go out there and compete and dominate and excited to watch that.”
