Main events at Scala Days are finished, but our October tour is just starting.
We teleported overnight to BazelCon in Amsterdam to talk to you about your Scala (and not only) monorepo needs. Find us there—let’s talk!
Scala Days starts today, and we’re happy to see both new and familiar faces. Lots of great talks are coming, including the ones by our team, so we are pretty excited about the next two days.
If you can’t make it to Berlin, you can still join the livestream: scaladays.org/
This year, we’ll be covering many interesting stories involving LLMs—but we all know they come with significant challenges, especially for the OSS community.
Join Patryk for his lightning talk on open-source issues in the LLM era:

Another LLM-related topic from Adam Warski: learn the best approaches to working with Scala and AI. Which technologies to use, and how to write it? It’s all there:

How to make agents safe? With Scala, obviously!
Join Łukasz and Jakub for their talk, where you’ll learn more about capybaraclaw—an agent you can finally and successfully forbid from performing dangerous actions.

If you’re wondering whether your IDE can keep up with the LLM world, consider attending the “Metals Reimagined” talk about the Metals Language Server, which provides Scala and Java features to LSP-compatible editors.

If you're interested in what's going on with the newest versions of Scala, Lukas and Piotr will be able to give you all the necessary information in their talk "The State of Scala in 2026" scaladays.org/session/the-st…
As WASM gains more traction in the real world, Scala is keeping up—thanks in part to the engineers at VirtusLab.
Join Rikito to discuss how WASM support in Scala is evolving.

With Scala Days starting in two weeks, we'd like to highlight some of the presentations from the VirtusLab team. Join us in Berlin for two days of excellent talks and great networking opportunities.
If you're interested in making LLMs actually work for you and not against you, you'll be interested in Krzysztof's talk "AI Multiplies — Let Scala Hold the Line". Join him and learn how Scala can help with getting actual work done.

If you are going to Lambda World in Malaga this year, consider coming a day earlier to join the Typelevel community for an all-day meetup.
This is a great opportunity to talk about functional programming with some of the best and brightest in the field!

We've got a new home!
Check out VSS: VirtusLab Scala Stack! Direct-style, AI-first, type-safe, human & agent-friendly.

And if you want to find out more: we'll be covering a lot from VSS on @scaladays in October in Berlin.
Or if you're from the US and are not making the trip this time ... stay tuned for meetups in SF, Chicago & NY, bringing some of ScalaDays over the ocean!

New Scala LTS is out! Read all about it in the recent blog post by Wojciech Mazur at scala-lang.org/news/3.9/. The blog post covers all the most recent features, a quick reminder of all the ones since the last LTS, and practical information about migrating.
sttp-ai - the #Scala toolkit for working with third-party LLMs - has seen a LOT of evolution lately, especially around the API to code agent behaviour in a flexible, but of course type-safe way.
Let's take a code-first tour of the most important features!
12. maxTokens - per-call output cap
.maxTokens(n) caps what the model may generate on each LLM call. Sent as max_completion_tokens on OpenAI (works with reasoning models too). Hit the cap? The run ends with FinishReason.TokenLimit and you still get the partial answer.
And finally, here's sttp-ai on GitHub. Open-source, Apache2-licensed: github.com/softwaremill/sttp…
Don't forget to leave a ⭐!
