Check out our newest work on Q‑band DQC!
Q-band DQC offers distinct advantages for dual nitroxide-labeled proteins, including deep dipolar modulations, minimal background decay at micromolar concentrations, and increased sensitivity with the incorporation of deuterium. (1/2)
Using recent theory, we show that the field dependence of the DQC signal is sensitive to the relative orientation of the two g-tensor axes. The data is also in great agreement with theoretical predictions. (2/2) #ESR

Josh and Shramana’s paper on a new rigid Cu(II)based DNA label is now published in JACS! The new Cu(II) label is anchored inside the DNA helix and is sensitive to dynamic and structural fluctuations of the duplex induced by protein binding.

We recently collaborated with the Transue Group at @Pitt_Chemistry and published a communication in @J_A_C_S! We used pulsed EPR to show the long relaxation times of a series of tungsten(V) chalcogenide complexes. These molecules have large spin-sensitive responses to (1/2)
circularly polarized light using MCD. This work points to advances in improving optically induced magnetization-initializable qubits. Great work to all, and congrats on the first Pitt paper, Dr. Transue! (2/2) pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/jac…

Happy to see this new paper from the @Saxena_Lab published in Chemistry, A European Journal: Endogenous Cu(II) Labeling for Distance Measurements on Proteins by EPR dx.doi.org/10.1002/chem.2024…
Shramana, Niko, and Hannah presented their research at @rockymtnconf last month, and alumni from the Saxena Lab were able to reconnect at dinner.
Our second-year graduate students, Niko, Hannah, and Shramana, all passed their comprehensive exams this week! Congratulations!

In our recent collaborative work with @Saxena_Lab , we explored the dynamic nature of P. aeruginosa CueR copper transcription factor, showing differences than its E.coli homologue - chemistry-europe.onlinelibra…
Josh and Shramana's review has been accepted for publication in the 80th EPR anniversary edition of Applied Magnetic Resonance. It is cleverly titled "PELDOR to the metal: Cu(II)-based labels put a new spin on distance measurements". Congratulations!
Congratulations to Josh Casto for passing his PhD defense last week on April 16!
16th PhD graduate on the 16th!
Sunil has been selected as a recipient of the 2024 Provost's Award for Excellence in Doctoral Mentoring at the University of Pittsburgh. Congratulations and well deserved! @Pitt_Chemistry

Welcome to NEW IES committee to serve 2024-27! Marina Bennati, Sunil Saxena, John Morton, Mihee Lim and Janet Lovet. @Saxena_Lab @SpinLovett @songihanlab
Huge thanks to ougoing IES Committee members for their selfless a. A healthy society is one that evolves - help us do!
Zikri (now at UC Davis) recently published a paper from his PhD in collaboration with the @StollPatrol group. Here, we developed two rotamer libraries for our dHis-Cu(II)-NTA using molecular dynamics and the new chiLife method. @PCCP

Really exciting results from @Saxena_Lab demonstrating submicromolar pulse dipolar EPR with nitroxide labels using DQC. Impressive results!
Alysia and Zikri’s paper on Q-band nitroxide double quantum coherence measurements is now published online in J. Phys. Chem. Lett.!
In this work, we were able to achieve 100% modulation depths and 50 nM distance measurements in 12 hours.
