Couldn’t be prouder of the women who work at Withnell . This is their superhero / flu fighter party to vaccinate our pre- schoolers against flu . This is care . This is community. This is excellence in general practice.

The PA debacle tells you exactly where the UK is right now. Patients & BMA taking the GMC to court over the failure of GMC, NHS WTE and colleges to protect patients. GMC paid for by Drs. BMA paid for by Drs. The powerful few ignored the concerns for years. This is the result 👏
Wow ! Imagine working in a system that valued you this much !

Alarmingly!
The new government is set to repeat the NHS's bleakest mistakes! By championing profit-driven policies that dismantle hospitals and harm care, they risk turning our healthcare system into a cash cow. Will we let them sacrifice our NHS for corporate greed
My latest👇🏾
This is care closer to home . This is model general practice. This is continuity and care and excellence delivered by GP partners and their teams . This is what patients want . @LSCICB @wesstreeting
The 19 best GP surgeries in North West - as rated by patients. Withnell is number 6 ! Brilliant news for a brilliant surgery ! No surprise the top ranked are small/ medium practices . blackpoolgazette.co.uk/healt…

Patients prefer small GP practices . NHSE doesn’t like them. @wesstreeting @SKinnock there is something to consider here in how policies are developed because if we don’t change track we will lose even more good ones. @doctor_katie

The closest we have to a salaried model of General Practice is APMS contracts
There is a catch or two🤔@wesstreeting
They have opened the door to big business take overs, employment of less qualified staff in some cases & they cost more
ICBs have been paying more for less🤷🏻♂️
APMS contracts were introduced 2004 to allow then PCTs to contract with a wide range of providers to deliver services including social enterprises, the voluntary sector & commercial providers

It’s been the gateway for costly private company takeovers

Our own @HaringeyKonp have successfully opposed a huge company running their GP services which would've meant a poorer service for patients.
Victories like this are happening around the UK thanks to the efforts of members.

Thanks v much @LSCICB for this gut punch to GPs in Lancashire/S Cumbria.I’ve had GPs contact me thinking they just don’t matter & considering throwing the towel in when the ICB just tosses you aside. Thoughts @NHSEngland @wesstreeting @pulsetoday ?

'You never know, it might even be cheaper for them – which seems to be the number one priority for commissioners and the Government.'

Imagine a joined up approach to patient care where secondary care didn’t try & do community care
£665 for a virtual hospital ‘admission’
3-4 times the annual amount given to community care
⬇️7% GPs
⬇️⬇️42% District Nurses
⬇️15% Community Beds
⬇️⬇️Social care funding
@wesstreeting
1. This is the model being favoured by NHSE .2. SSP own many surgeries in the North West .3. This is not the model at Withnell Health Centre

A man was found dead five days after he emailed a GP surgery that encouraged patients not to call.
Allan Hamilton sent a message to his GP when he experienced breathing difficulties, in line with the surgery’s communication policy that encouraged patients to email instead of phone.
Staff at the surgery took three days to respond to Mr Hamilton, an inquest heard.
Mr Hamilton was found dead at his home two days later.
Senior coroner Alison Mutch said that if Mr Hamilton had received a response on the day he sent the email, he would not have died.
The Manchester-based coroner has issued a warning to the Department of Health and Social Care and said there was a “risk” of more people dying under similar circumstances if GPs did not have “clear and robust” systems for online communication.

various myths have emerged, to camouflage cuts in services and shortages. Kidding us they are in some way better.
Virtual wards? Only because we don’t have enough real wards.
'Care-navigators’ Only because we don't have enough care-givers. myemail-api.constantcontact.…
